Anything is doable.

I've converted to a Toyota 5 speed (85 Celica) box and love it...2700 rpm is 70 mph in 5th.

My primary concern was to not modify anything on the 3 that couldn't be returned to stock...no cutting/welding etc on the frame/bodywork and that's possible with the Toyota tranny (are they available there, mine was cheap and in great shape $130). I also wanted to use as many stock parts as poss (flywheel, clutch pressure plate, slave cylinder fork/throw out bearing, driveshaft)...some pics below.

Things to think about are the clutch linkage and speedo drive. I had my speedo recalibrated from 1180 (stock as printed on the face to 1050 as it tested out to) so it reads mph and miles correctly.

We did sacrifice a stock non synchro 4 speed though, you can see the bell housing cut off and the conversion plate prior to welding. There are kits you can buy that have these included (HVDA) but doing it ourselves (my friends idea/home kit) saved me about $1500 with the same result.

If you attempt it please post a report and the pics. Luck.
