Taffy TR Man
I am currently in the process of preparing my TR6 for Le Jog and perhaps some hillclimbing and rallying before and after. Does anyone have any experience of using bonnet and boot skins in GRP and whether they are MOTable or are they strictly race only. Any info on what to look out for in my preparation for Le Jog would be very useful...! cheers Taffy
Guest NeilS
No problem for the MOT. Many road cars have had the pannels changed and as long as they are not structural parts and have no exposed sharp edges the MOT inspector will be quite happy. The thing to watch out for is the competition regulations. The regs may specify that pannels must be made from original materials or in the case of doors they may have to remain steel unless door bars are fitted. Check the Competition regulations and the current MSA Blue book very carefully and then, if in doubt, ask the eligibility scruiteneer for the competition.
Guest bolide
Speaking as someone with a TR4 with Fibreglass wings, I'd say don't bother. It's a huge job getting them to fit, I'm told, and it'll render you ineligible for a number of series I wish mine had steel wings - but each to his own!
