jamie hart
I have a 1956 TR3 that I have just rebuilt including the engine. I had the rear oil seal modified to take the Land rover conversion but am now running into a major problem. I have developed a major oil leak at the cover area at the bottom of the gearbox. I have had the engine out and all seems well on the oil seal and cap for the rear main bearing. When I put the engine back in the car the oil still leaked so I replaced the sump gasket, still a leak. I have now taken the sump off three times and replaced the gasket with a variety of materials that should allow any imperfections to be taken up. The last two occassions I have run the car for about half an hour to get it really warm, no oil leaks whatsoever. I have then carefully tightened the sump bolts with a torque wrench so they are not overtightened. As soon as I restart the engine, when the engine is reaches running temperature the leak begins to pour out again !! Please has any one any ideas before I get the angle grinder out!! Many thanks in advance, Jamie Hart
