jonlar Posted June 3, 2007 Report Share Posted June 3, 2007 Hi Monkeypin, it should be ballasted with the resistance wire built in to the harness, White/Yellow lead to 6 Volt coil, during starting/cranking voltage drops off, so poor spark with 12 Volt coil, but with ballasted system, the resistance wire is by-passed and higher voltage (usually 10-12 Volts depending on condition of battery) gives a better spark (in theory at least).
