jpeterj
My '71 TR6 has a Lucas 22D Distributor. The Base plate (to which the points are fitted) appears to rock front to back on the Bearing Plate, and may well move when running. This will have the effect of the points gap varying. Any ideas please ? Although the car is now running OK, I wonder if fitting an electronic ignition would get constant and better performance? Any recommendations / experiences appreciated. jean
In general the plate should be held in position by the spring attached to the advance capsule. Maybe the pin on the top plate is broken or the spring is detached from it
