Thank you gentlemen

Hi all
looking for some assistance please.
I have to replace the exhaust gasket on my 72 TR6 (injection).
Was wondering if anyone had a recommendation on the best gasket and supplier for same, and if I can/should paint the manifold while I have it off.
This would purely be for esthetics, as it’s obviously rusty. Any recommendations on a high temperature paint, or if I should bother at all and leave well enough alone.
many thanks as always
Kevin

If you like that Bill, check out TR member Tony Millwards TR6
Truly beautiful colour and combination, in my opinion.
Don't know what the colour is, but it ain't standard Triumph.
If ever I do a full resto . . . . .
Best of luck, whatever you both decide

Best of luck with it
Enjoy the experience !!

Anything done re cooling ? Seeing as your take it to the algarve, I'd consider same (if not already addressed).

Everyones taste is different, but for what its worth heres a photo of mine with the top on.
I bought the top last year, new referb and I thought the black would look good
One advantage of the black is that it may suit more perspective buyers, should you ever decide to sell it on, but keep the car.
I like the fact that it looks similar to the soft top, from a distance. But each to their own

+ 2 for Mr Cox
Perfect box returned to me quickly, and very reasonable price
No complaints at all

It's not that big a job. Change all fluids and go Nialls route. No brainer in my eyes, considering your upcoming trip, which I hope you enjoy

Penrite Gearbox oil GB40
As recommended by Pete Cox

A wee bit of 'Bluetac' on the end of a long slim screwdriver worked a treat for me, only after half an hour of frustration first !
Simply twist screwdriver to release the pins, once located.

I used to have the same problem with my last car and its easily and cheaply sorted. When you locate the front first (two top hat spacers into the windscreen top) and gently lower the back down onto the rear deck place a washer (or however many you need to stop it rubbing) underneath the hard top on one side and lower away. This washer or washers can be located simply by using bluetack which will hold it in place over the rear locating screw hole between the rear deck and the hardtop itself. You can look down through the rear window shining a torch to see everything lines up properly. Job done.
Yes I know there are adjusting nuts that form the rear mounts inside the hard top but they were fully screwed in and it didn't make enough of a difference to stop chaffing.
I had to do the washer trick on my previous TR6, I think I had 2 washers on one side and 3 on the other all held together and located with a smidgen of blue tack........ job done.
Ed China.
Only joking
Alan
Thanks Alan
Sounds like a easy solution.
Now, lets see how many days I can remain topless for the rest of the year, before the top eventually goes on.

Hard Tops are only for Wussies,we have a Couple of them Overhere,Howya Kev.
Now, now Niall . . . . . Wussies ?
No need for that
I bought mine, last year when myself and the Irish crew were doing the IWE and Stafford week. Got a great deal on a new referb, and simply couldn't turn it down.
However I also bought it both out of curiosity, to see what the difference was, but mainly because I love the look of the car with it on.
So the question is, will I put it back on the car ??
Yes
When ??
Well, I left it on last winter, having fitted it in the UK and driven home with it.
We then had an awesome summer. So maybe, as Peter suggests, it's beholden to me to fit it again this winter, to gurantee a great summer next year
The only issue I need to address first, is how to stop it rubbing on the rear deck (left side only)
Happy winter motoring, regardless of ones choice !

Plenty of the US cars have it, standard in the US ??

Great suggestion, before spending your hard earned

SO much to see, so many cars, and so much advice at Malvern. You'd be a fool not to attend, if at all possible. Best money you'd spend, in your endeavours.
Best of luck

Similar scenario to what happened to me recently, although there was grinding also.
Rebuild is needed I fear.

Penrite GB40 is what Pete Cox recommends, and that's bible for me.
Don't worry about the size of the filler hole, just fill until it starts to overflow, run for a little bit, then refill (to allow oil to work trough OD)
PTFE tape is a good question, though I would think not (but as most here know I'm no expert )
Pls don't shoot me guys if I'm wrong lol
