Great stuff Hamish. Can't imagine many of us have the cojones to push our machines over 100 mph. I sure don't! I like the in-car view and the text commentary.

Late to the party but have a good ‘un. The lift gift sounds great!

Quick question Hamish - you do a really good job of suppressing wind noise in your videos. What is your technique? As far as camera angles go, you already do a pretty darn good job! I really like seeing the instruments along the way with the good sound.

Well, I do recognize those Lucas L549 tail lights!

That is a great looking car Stuart - the wheels, bumperless, and surry top combination is really nice. That dark color suits the lines too. Can’t wait to see Pete’s progress as well!

Great story Richard! I have always wanted to hear from someone who pulled off the transplant and had a go of it. Any pics? And I have to correct myself as the publication was “Rodding and Restyling”, not “speed age”.

Good point on the RHD - I think all of Balchowski’s cars were the early US imports. I found a contemporary article (in “Speed Age”) about the exact cuts and mods Max used to drop in the Buick nailhead engine. When I start going batty I may give it a go if I can find a nailhead. They are a pretty machine.

Is this a Balchowski V-8 "Buretti"?

Ok, I have located the parts and will simply replace. Any tricks to bending the tubing without linking it? Thanks for the help!

My goal is to restore the metal vacuum advance system on my SU H4 carbs. One is non-functioning (Doretti) and the other has been replaced with a rubber hose (TR2). I used a suction tool to make sure my distributors function correctly by adjusting to a vacuum, which they do.
The metal tube seems to be unavailable from my usual sources, so my first question is whether that tubing can be found anywhere else.
Next, my Doretti tube won’t seal where it goes into the carb body. The jam nut bottoms out on the carb body before it makes a seal The photo shows the Doretti tube with the worn jam nut. This tube and fitting may be from a later SU H6 carb that was on my Doretti before I put on the H4s. Do I have the wrong fitting on this one?
The other tube in the photo (top) is the original one from the TR2, with a slightly different compression fitting Any tips on reconstructing this with new tubes and fittings?
Cheers

If your car does not have the original mounting hardware on the scuttle, you may need to reinforce the scuttle with a bracket on the underside. I would try to match the angle of the glass to the original items When I run just the single aero screen on my 2 it doesn’t seem tilted at an odd angle. Congrats on making a nice piece - it looks great.
