  1. I suffered the same problem on a friend' TR6, we ended by opening the bonnet from under the car, easier if you have ramps at home  ....

    Good luck,

    Chris.

Hi Chris - can you go through the proceedure - I have the ramps...

    Cheers

  2. Really annoyed with myself  & car (although only temporary). Yesterday I adjusted the bonnet catch because the bonnet kept popping up whenever I went out for a run. Having adjusted it I decided to road test it again; I chose the bumpiest roads I could find and to my joy the bonnet stayed put. I got the car back and immediatly went to check that everything under the bonnet was as should be AND was 'slightly disappointed' that I could no longer open the bonnet. I think the bonnet release cable may be caught as it dosen't seem to pull as it used to. I've had a friend push the bonnet as I pull at the cable but nothing happens. Short of cutting a hole in the bonnet(I'm not doing that) I am now stuck. Help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks, an anxious Richard awaighting a miracle or a very very small human who can crawl into my engine compartment...

  3. Hi Steve

Not sure of the SS bonnet catch - I made do with an emergency pull available through Moss part no: mm 807-088 about £8. As for the battery just ordered on off ebay a Bosch S4027 (UK069) type battery with a 4 yr warranty. Think its about 70aHish, it fits well and has plenty of oomph required to start the car.

  4. Hi all

I need some help here, I have referred to the numerous old topics concerning the dreaded fuel pump all of whoich have been incredibly useful. Having trawled through the various pages I have convinced myself (rightly or wrongly) that I'm going to take the plunge and install the bosch filter and pump. I'm happy to buy the unit already assembled however being a 'fool' wish to buy the component parts myself and bulid a bespoke setup. As far as I can make out the filter part no is a Bosch 405 905 021 and Fuel pump a Bosch 0 508 254 909? Would you all agree with my interpretation and if so point me towards a supplier?

    Thanks again

  5. The windscreen frame is slightly adjustable - slacken off all attachments and move to desired position and tighten attachments.

The door windows are also very slightly adjustable - the centre pivot can be moved (not a lot), adjust and see what happens.

Can the doors be moved rearwards (how are your gaps)

    Roger

Hi - Can you explain how you adjust the windows via the centre pin?

    Cheers

  6. Pleased you have sorted softop and windows.

First suggestion would be to check you rotor arm, and if its not already been done

fit one of Martins Red ones

Also join your local Tr Register group, they will love to look over

your motor, and better advised re upgrades as the car is infront of them.

You could easily spend money on upgrades that possibly you dont need,

ie Fuel pump, recon set injectors etc etc

Thanks Guy, will check the rotor arm. How can I find details of my local TR group?

  7. It is possible to adjust the glass inwards a bit but its a very fiddly job. Take the door trim board off and you will see where the runners are bolted to the frame. the idea is to shim the runners outwards towards the door skin at the lower ends so the top will come in towards the hood. Loosen all the mounting bolts slightly and then remove the bottom two on the runners and insert more washers between the bracket and the inner frame. You wont get much but it may be enough to close the gap up.

Thanks all for the help here. Followed Stuarts suggestion yesterday by adjusting the runners and found c 5mm of movement. Happy to report both windows now snug to roof.

    Many thanks

  8. I've just purchased a red 73 model TR6 PI, its fantastic. I'm planning to do the Le Mans Classic with my brother in law in July and want the car to be as good / reliable as possible which begged the question of upgrades or immprovements.

My dilema is I wish to keep the car as standard as possible but have c £500 to carry out upgrades / improvements, be it engine , interior etc. The question to the forum is how should I spend the money? Look forward to your comments...

  9. Hi Waterhouse,

    Welcome to the forum.

It is not possible to adjust the windows so that they sit inside the roof....

you would then not be able to open the doors, and close, with windows up.

The glass when wound up should sit tight against the fabric of the softop. Then there is the

rubber trim that sits inside of glass, this can be adjusted slightly so it touches the glass

    when fully wound up.

There is possible adjustment of the glass but you will need to remove the door

panel and have a fidle. How close is the glass to the rake of the windscreen pillar?

If you are able to post a picture that would be a great help.

    Cheers

    Guy

Thanx Guy - I'll get some pics posted tomorrow and check the measurments

  10. Does the TR6 as standard come with wing mirrors? Mine hasn't got any and I am considering fitting one on the drivers side. Can anyone help with the fitting proceedure and best place to locate some mirrors?

  11. Hi all TR6 owners. Just got hold of my first TR6 - its a CR model in red. Only issue is both door windows when wound up sit outside the top of the roof by as much as 1cm and getting wet when it rains! Can ayone tell me if its possible to adjust the windows to sit inside and under the roof? Thanks in advance
