  1. The seat adjusters in Lynda's and, from memory, my previous TR4A (both 1965 vintage) are as you describe. However, the picture in the handbook, and drawing in the parts catalogue suggest they probably originally had a rubber cover, although I cannot find a part number for one.

I forgot to mention that mine have (or had) a rubber cap on the end - but not the neat round black ball as shown in my handbook. Any reason why these "rails" would be painted red? Was there ever a standard color? BTW my car was produced Dec 65 for export as a 66 in the early part of the year.

  2. In my 4A both seats sit on two long metal brackets bolted to the floor. They can slide up and down these "rails" (sorry, don't know what the proper terminology is). My car is a Triumph Racing Green, and was the same from the factory. The "rails" are red. That seems unusual to me. Was there a standard factory color? Were they unpainted? Help here appreciated.

I also see in my handbook that the seat moves backward and forward with a lever, in front, with a round black plastic knob on it. My lever is just a metal one, with a shape for my thumb but that's it - no place to mount a small ball. I think the seats, or at least the "rails" were added later. Anyone know what originally came with the 4A?
