  1. Just insured my Sapphire Blue TR6 (formally Pimento Red) and was charged an extra 40 squid :( - changing the colour is classed as a modification - robbing bar stewards!!:angry:

Keep the original colour, as Graham says

I had a similar problem when I rebuilt my '73 CR. When I refitted the engine I treated it to a new rotor arm and cap but could not get it to fun correctly even with all the checks you have completed - good spark etc.

Eventually replaced the new cap with an old cap found gathering dust in my garage and hey presto! ran like a dream??

I checked the new cap for any defects and continuity - all checked out OK, just wouldn't do what it said on the tin!

    Worth a try?

  3. Morning Jim

They certainly look the part, I have been in touch with Thao at Harringtons with a view to buying a set & the price has come back favourably good.

I will attempt to post some photo's as and when the job is done!

Once again Thank you to all of you for your input, it was greatly received

  4. Gentlemen

A massive Thank You to all your replies regarding s/s bumpers. I've taken on board all the advice given, Peter I think you're right in the fit and forget idea. Jim, look forward to seeing the results. Mike thanks for the links they do look good.Steve as we get older I am sure we can all be happy with shedding a few pounds! Laurence I appreciate the look but prefer the bling! and Roger --- Love the hat!!!

I think, looking at the advice that this is the route for me and as such will post some photo's of the results as and when the jobs done.

Hope to chat with you all again and maybe help with a bit of my input on these fantastic cars

Imagine this - you're driving down the road in your pride and joy with it's recently repaired fuel tank, your partners hand luggage in the boot (trunk!) when that repair fails - at best she'll (or he'll) smell like a fuel tanker driver  and at worst you'll me sat at the side of the interstate glaring at the remains of many hours of love & attention (and not the partner!) smouldering like a cat on heat.

Go the safe route and bin it, there are plenty of used tanks available in good condition and the money you will save in the long run will enable you to fill it up! - ah no! that's only over here in the UK that we get ripped off in fuel prices :(

    Best of luck

  6. Hi to all you

And just to introduce myself, my name is Graham Race (hence Racey!) aged 53 and living in a small village just outside Malton in North Yorkshire.

My pride and joy is a 1973 CR TR6 in Sapphire blue and my question is this, the bumpers both back and front are in need of a re chrome , which, to have the job done right is costly and time consuming especially at this time of year when everyone is looking to smarten up there prides.

Now, I have seen these stainless steel items available on the old tinter and was thinking Hey no more buggering about trying to keep on top of chrome in these British climes so was wondering if anyone has gone down this route and what problems you have had with them regards fitting, appearance etc - basically, is it a good route to go down?

Any and all advice would be gratefully received

    Thank you

    Graham
