Hi
Just wondering if anyone can help with a little problem, I acquired a spare cp engine and gearbox with a tr6 I bought and try as I may - I cannot find any identification stamps anywhere on the casing there are none and there is absolutely no evedence of ever being one or one being removed.
There is a date mark on the right hand side that looks like it was scored into the casting sand reading 19/2/75 and that's all apart from the usual raised casting numbers....... Any ideas would be gratefully appreciated.

Good evening all
It's been a while since I last visited this site but I've recently taken on a 1971 CP restoration project started by the previous owner and although he has done a pretty good job so far, he has missed off the lifting brackets on the inner wings and this is something I need to correct..... So I was wondering if any of you kind members have a drawing of the brackets with dimensions on it so I can fabricate a pair as I'm struggling to find any.
Or if anyone has a decent pair you're willing to sell I'd be happy to buy them from you
Thanks in advance

Good afternoon all
Thank you all for your response on this subject, I have taken on board all your comments and suggestions and being a good old Yorkshire man, can't imagine people will pay 10k+ for body shells be it new, old or indifferent!.
Times change along with pricing I suppose and my initial estimation falls in line with that of Conrad's 4k and a gentleman who I will keep anonymous due to pm'ing me at around 6k. Question is, would I be happy selling within these prices should I decide to sell? and the answer at this moment in time is an honest yes if it where to someone who needed one and no to someone who wanted one just to profit off. that's not what the register should be about.
Anyway I'm Sorry but work commitments and the good old British weather have prevented me from getting any photographs of the shell to give you a better idea as to it's condition but will do as soon as possible.
Thank you all again

I have a CR block complete with good bores, pistons and crank sat in my garage that I bought as a spare for my TR that I no longer own.
If you live anywhere near Malton in North Yorkshire you're quite welcome to come and inspect it and for £150 i t would be a hell of a saving on rebuilding/machining your old block

Hi All
Last year I bought my TR6 reg number PCK 422K from a guy down in Wolverhampton who had left it to while away 16 years untouched, unused and unloved!!.
She was in a bit of a sorry state but I had the engine up and running within the hour of getting her back to my place here in Yorkshire - and everything worked to my surprise.
So I was just wondering if anyone has any info on her past. It would be nice to collect a bit of history or photo's of her in her prime!
Fingers crossed and thanks in advance

I had this problem myself last year and eventually traced the fault to the master cylinder piston not returning all the way out to the circlip and washer, it fell short of it's travel by only a couple of mm or so but it was enough to give me a headache (and a few choice words!)
Once it had been stripped, cleaned and reassembled it bled through with just an initial couple off pumps and then good old gravity did the rest - result - perfect pedal
Hope this is of some help

Here's a little trick!
I got fed up with trying to fit the said bush and at the end of the day they are not that good when fitted.
So, being an engineer by trade I decided to improvise with the help of an electrical black "plastic" gland fitting. Now without looking I can't remember if it was a 16mm or 20mm gland and I'm sure that someone will know the hole size in the bulkhead. Anyway all I did was drill out the centre of the gland with the correct size drill to suit the shaft and then popped it into the hole from the inside and secured it with the "plastic nut that comes with the gland, hey presto - no fidgety messing around trying to get it right, it gives greater support to the shaft and most of all it looks right from in the engine bay - OK it's not good for the purists I agree, BUT it's easy to fit and costs about a quid and being a Yorkshire man, that's all I needed. (and it's been in place for the last 4 years trouble free!!)
Now that's a bargain don't you agree?
Hope this is of some help to you
Graham
PS if you can let me know how to upload photo's I have some to share of the mod (or mail me your email address)

Evening all
Today I bought a pair of MX5 seats to fit in my TR6 and was wondering if anyone knows the weight of these seats so I can get them delivered by courier - OK it's a long shot I know but one of you may have had them delivered at some time or other. They are from a mk2 with detachable head rests.
And anyone know where to get the mounting brackets for the same?
any input greatly received
Thank You

I agree with Roger, check that the over fuel lever is being used on the metering unit, the clip that retains the outer cable can easily have been dislodged if the mechanic has reached in from above to remove the starter motor. If there is plenty of power in the battery to turn the engine over then there is more than enough to spark it into life

Hi Steve
Having run webers on my last TR6 I had them setup at Motoscope in Northallerton - ok but still not right so I buggered off to see Mr Bogg (Senior) at Bogg Brothers of East Lutton. BINGO! This man is well respected in the world of performance tuning of weber carbs, be it fire breathing or economy setup this guy is without doubt the dogs bollocks & not a million miles from you. you can (or could) book a time slot with him and watch him at work on your pride - Brilliant
