  1. Hi Folks,

Not sure if its any interest but, prompted by Pilkie, I opened a photobucket account to host my signature piccy at the bottom. Wondered what else to put on it so have loaded a selection of the hundreds of photos taken during Elsie's rebuild between 2004 and 2008.

May be of interest to someone with nothing better to do!!!

    Its at

    Cheers

hi ian ive followed your last rebuild and also asked if it was for sale i read in a tr action mag you would put the cost budget on paper without being rude ive seen the build pictures very nice to what do you think it cost cheers
  2. Hi gaz,

For car CT 10515 L, you should have a black-finished panel. I think there were

slight differences in the grain finish over the years but not so much that anyone

    would notice.

Speedo and tach gauges are not too hard to find. If you are being fussy, the 3A

and 4 tachos are different, the 4 tacho shows has a red segment between 5000

    and 6000.

Your small gauges should be the TR3A style - that's full face (no shroud over the

top part) and curved glasses to all gauges (large and small). Only difference is

the TR4 temp gauge looks the same but operates from an electric sensor, not the

    3A capillary tube type.

the gauges ref no i think match the no in the moss book and the temp gauge is a electical sensor type the panel looks old and i think its stainless my car at some point has had later gauges put in this is why i have brought these gauges and panel to get it back to the correct way it left the factory the panel on the car is black this may be the original one then and just the gauges changed so is it correct to have a black panel on build no ct 10515L would like to no
  3. Was this on Ebay recently complete with the small dials?

hi david yes it was just trying to collect some parts to get my 4 back to how it was as the build no is 10515L the dials are correct with ref in the moss book but not sure about the panel. need to find the speedo and tacko now and cubby lid i have rh dash ready just trying to collect the right bits

  4. hi all just could anyone tell me the correct panel on a early tr4 the one i have is stainless steel with engine turning swirls all over but looking in bill pigot original triumph book it looks differant it looks stainless but no swirls also mine has come from the us were thay differant over there

  5. hi all ive a lhd tr4 and just wonderd if the cubby lid will fit my right hand dash ive got to put in or are they handed if so has anyone got a rh cubby lid also i need a acelerator pedal for rh just collecting my parts ready to swap it over gary

  6. has it stopped working on the trip and the main odometers? The early odometers were carried over to the 6 and I have had mine apart for the same issue. there is a small diamond shaped spring metal clip that sits on the end of the odo shaft. it holds all of the number wheels in place and in engagement with the driven gears from the cable drive. this clip can fall off and will be rattling around somewhere inside the speedo. It might be hung up in the mechanism. The odo and trip are operated by separate eccentric pawls on the drive gear and a small arm that engages the number wheels as it rotates on the eccentric pawl. this arm might be broken. there isn't much else in there to stop it working, maybe a little light machine oil will help when you take it apart but not too much and don't get any in the aluminium drag cup that moves the needle. it will cause excessive drag and the needle will read low.

yes the trip doesnt work so the speedo got to come out and taken apart :(:(

  7. hi all im a tr5 owner and also have a tr4 which was brought to turn into a works rep do you think that the value of a well done rally rep will hold its value if it ever had to be sold or would i be entering a market where some people would rather have a good original car and not a stripped out car and would you sell a tr5 to fund the build .the build would hopefully come in around 35k

  8. hi all i have a pair of strombergs on my 4 im trying to put new choke cable on and seem to have something on the linkage missing or im just being thick i have the parts cat and workshop manual, its where the iner and outer cable fit to on the carb end ,dose the cable enter from the under neath or the top need a picture to help

  9. just wondered if it is commom practice to use the original tr5 filter unit when the bosch pump is used this is what i have found to be done on my tr5 this was already on the car when i bought it three years ago. should this filter unit be changed or is this ok

  10. I think the domed glass minor instruments had unshrouded needles. I would imagine that it would be unlikely for someone to replace the glass on all instruments. Perhaps the gauges are correct. Flat glass instruments were used from CT 15053, which would appear to have been sometime in 1962.

the chasis no of my car is ct 10515L

  11. hi all i have a 62 tr4 with flat glass gauges and beleive these to have been changed at some point from domed type im looking to change these back to original can the glass be changed .if so where do you get them or, is it a case of hunting down a set of domed gauges and change the hole item
