  1. In the past I used a pair of borrowed sash cramps to push the glass+seal into the frame. The corners are paticularly tricky with the rubber tape.

Be very sure that none of the Tenax screw is projecting into the slot, as you will get a cracked screen sooner or later - ask me how I know.

  2. North London Group and London Group recently had a joint shoot out on Enginuity's rolling road, I believe the results were interesting.

No doubt somebody who was there will be along with the info.

The original shoot out was covered by Ian C in TRAction.

  3. Dear All,

There is no screw or provision for one on my 4, which was rebuilt a few years ago, and it appears that although listed in the Moss catalogue, it doesn't show how or where this is fitted in the footwell.

It appears to be missing on a few other cars I have seen, perhaps for the same reason (missed in rebuild).

I am keen to make one up to avoid overstraining the carb linkage in red mist moments.

    =8-))

Does anybody have a pic they could share of the set up? I assume the screw is into a welded in nut somewhere on the bulkhead.

    Thanks

  4. Roger,

I am afraid that the ordinary Stoplock (with or without flashing light) is about as useful as a chocolate tea pot. In the AE test, they released it in 5 seconds - and you can see it being done on YouTube as well.

  5. I might be wrong (again  ), but suspect, all else with your carbs (springs etc) being equal, that from what you have said that you have an air leak between the rear carb and the manifold. As far as you can tell, are both butterfles closing together, and to the same extent (eg balanced)?

  6. Did you remove the inlet manifold during your travails?

If so, you may find it has not seatedd back properly - it can be tricky getting it to engage fully with the 2 pegs on the cylinder head.

This can leave you with a large air leak/weak mixture, and it won't run properly (ask me how I know.....). The results you are getting with carb cleaner would seem to confirm an air leak.

    Hope this helps.

  7. David,

Re the self cancelling "thing" on the column - Roger is correct for cars with the indicator wand on the right, otherwise it is 9pm, on the left, for those with the wand on the left (like most euro moderns - no more indicating with the wipers!)
