Given that my 5 is CP2656-O,first registered in July 68,it seems unlikely that a car registered
later would have such an early chassis plate.
The bumpers are also rather odd,and the price, given the current rate of euro exchange,is v rich!,
buyer beware me thinks!
-
i think this particular car was adverised at £45k late last year with the same dealer, its an ambitious price given the current
mess that finacial markets are in!

My 5 is Racetorations special as well and has the triple 40 webers, the key to a quick start is to pump the accelerator 2 or 3 times when cold.
Starting when warm/hot requres more modest pumps and the engine should fire cleanly. The webers will always be thirsty if car is used enthusiastically-is there any other way?!,
best,
Laurence

Dan,
Great looking engine!,have a feeling i saw you the other day, last friday to be precise, blasting off Torquay seafront,

all the best,

Hi All,
I was going through my TR archive and came accross some pics of my first TR6
,registered NYT 244L, the car was pretty original when i bought it for the princely sum of £1500
in 1985. A late cp series car, she was in white and was last seen in Oxfordshire when i p/xd her against
my next 6, AME 525H.
Cheers,in advance, for any info

ps, well done Guy on the clutch transplant,-followed that one with interest,-way beyond my technical skills though!

Having given it a bit of serious, rational thought it seems pretty daft to remove the whole surrey top arrangement, therefore ,hopefully sensibly ,i have decided to just remove the hard top section and replace with the appropriate metal frame and fabric centre. I assume there is an order to putting these in place and i would be grateful for any guidence,i do have various bits including two rubber gromets!-not really sure where these go!,
THANKS,
Laurence(D1070)

Thanks Stuart, your advice is appreciated, and i will endeavour to complete the task this weekend-weather permitting!
Its funny i noticed that you are down at Grampound,-i used to live in Mabe near Penryn, back in 1985,i had a white TR6, NYT 244L but was not at the time in the TR register so did not get to know fellow Cornish TRowners. Always good to go back ,and luckily its not too far to the border from sunny Torquay!.
Thanks once again and all the best,
Laurence(D1070)

Now i am a TR5 owner, after a number of 6s, with the desirable surrey option i wondered how difficult it will be to; a) remove the hard top and b)install frame and soft top , all the bits appear to be with the frame so i assume its relatively straight forward-dare say these are famous last words!,
thanks,

Hi Colin and Graham!,
Yes i am the L Jones, formerly of Reading, who let AME go in 95,-i seem to recall Colin we met at a service station near Reading and remember the sound of that loud single pipe exhaust as she disapeared heading for S wales,-its just hard to believe that was 12 years ago!. It was wonderful to see the pics in Greece and the pics at Coombe ,i am just glad the car is still up and running and still giving loads of fun!. I do have some pictures andas they are part of the history i will bring them to Malvern.
I have recently returned to the TR fold- ,after an absence of 12 years it was about time!. My car,a dark blue TR5, NTL 92F will be one of the 5s on the 40th anniversary stand at Malvern ,look forward to seeing you there,
all the best,
Laurence(D1070)

Hi D101,
I'm Colin's eldest son and the co pilot on many a fun outing in AME around the South Wales valleys and Brecon Beacons. I've also had the opportunity to drive AME on Castle Combe, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Dad will tell you that I drove too hard. I will tell you that I was several seconds a lap quicker hahaha
Here's some photos taken at Castle Combe in 2002.
Cheers,
Graham
PS - Here's one of Colin's daughter-in-law posing on the A4059 just north of Cantref reservoir with the Brecon Beacons in the background.

Jon,
I wondered if anyone would make the link with the fabulous 52s!, D1070 ,Western Gauntlet was my favourite ,- can still picture her,on the blocks, at Penzance in December 76-how sad is that!.
Thankyou for letting me know that two old friends are still with us and hopefully still being used, certainly AME, from the pics in Greece,is still being pushed reasonably hard!
My current TR,after an absence of ten years , is a very rewarding TR5,-ITS JUST GOOD TO GET BACK IN A TR, better bring the wellingtons for Malvern,
all the best,
D1070, (Laurence)

i would love to know what has become of my pimento red CR series TR6, registered PYL 109L it was sold when i lived inReading. It was in good overall nick at the time being largely original witha relatively low milege.-i do have pictures from early 90s which i would be happy to copy and pass on to the new owner.
amazingly another 6 i owned in the late 80s has just been spoted whilst viewing Bills tour to Greece in May. AME 525H was last seen in 94 and i believe left Reading for S Wales, again i do have some pics if the current owner wishes to make contact.
all the best

Hi All,
In a moment of impulse i booked a trip to Angouleme
in September and wondered if anyone else was planning
on a visit. If anyone has been in previous years, i would
be interested to hear about there experiences.
It looks like a good drive ,at the right time of year, so i
am hopeful!,
thanks in advance,
Laurence
