the joys of sidescreen motoring didnt last that long for this enthusiast then David ,

Only just seen this post, but, if it would help, i can pop over to you in my CR('74) 6 and you can
have an eyeful of the pedal box and anything else that might help you crack on with you restoration,
cheers,
Laurence

TR24178,
Unless you are out and about using muddy lanes all winter it shouldnt be too
much of a problem, i have found a regular jet wash under the arches gets rid of the
bulk of it. Not everyone agrees with the use of high pressure hoses to remove mud but i havnt
found any problems, naturally paint underneath needs to be in good order, with a good coat of
waxoil/dynatrol,
cheers,
Laurence

Not sure which brand of boot rubber seal Stuart used on my 6, but has worked perfectly thus far,-no fumes or leaks,
cheers,
Laurence

Is that CR960-O?,-indicating o/d fitted as original equipment,
cheers,
Laurence

Have a word with Darryl, i am sure he could sort you out David,
cheers,
Laurence

I am surprised that you find the standard illumination inadequate, might be worth getting the
rheostat working and checking again..,
cheers,
Laurence

Yes,as Stuart says, the repro o/d wand ,as fitted to my 6,is a flimsy bit of kit,-i replaced
with the logic facility which incorperates a button in the alluminium gear knob. Thus far, its
been fine.I have the same arrangement in the 5 which has been good for nearly five years and 30k+ miles
cheers,
Laurence

my thoughts as well Neil, that bumper has buckled like a piece of foil . Having been
in a shunt many years ago, in a 6, it was the rear valance that was severly buckled , at the point
of impact i was stationary and offending car was travelling at 10 mph, oddly, the bumper
was hardly damaged.
Most importantly your brother-in-law is ok,
cheers,
Laurence

I can report that the pirelli p6 is an excellent all round tyre, fitted to both cars.
I have completed 10k miles in the 5 and there is still plenty of life in the tyres,-
have driven in all conditions, from memory they were £70 a corner including
fitting and balancing,
cheers,
Laurence.
ps,-my signature photo illustrates the tyre

morning David,
the hardtop will amplify any mechanical mischief, but its a shame you are not happy
with it,the car does look the business with it -we took a trip in the 6 down to Cornwall
yesterday and had no problems,
cheers,

Points taken Roger, i may have been unlucky with 6s i owned in the past, but always seemed
to have problems with the clutch and associated cross shaft mechanism. Thus far,20k miles +,
hydraulic clutch has performed well..,
cheers,
Laurence
-
the hydraulic clutch,as supplied by Racetorations,(no professional connection), has proved its
worth over 20k miles in my 5. Clutch action is light and smooth and does away with the troublesome cross
shaft, which is a known weekness on our cars,
cheers,
Laurence

i wonder if the commission plate is actually CR670 O, indicating overdrive is fitted,
seem to recall DVLA have problems with zeros and Os ,
cheers,
Laurence
-
number plate would suggest your 6 started life in the Bolton area of Lancs,
cheers,
Laurence

no choke required with the webers, just a few pumps on the loud peddle
-
funny Doug, i was thinking along the same lines, hopefully someone here will have
some pics to share,
cheers,
Laurence

Its a mad world but,as Stuart says, its £60k+ to build one
of these cars. so maybe, a bit of a bargain..,still too
rich for my blood,
cheers,
Laurence.

I changed from Goodyears to Pirelli a few months back.
The rims are the standard minator minilites at 6''.
Size 195/65-15, seems just about right to my mind, plenty
of feel and grip but not soo heavy at parking speeds.
The P6 cinturato has a classic tread pattern which looks
right on the 5, IMO of course ,-no complaints after 3500 miles,
cheers,
Laurence
-
the belt and braces package from Towergate is the
most important accessory,IMHO, of course,
cheers,
Laurence

I'm in the royal blue camp,-it does have to be kept clean to look
its best but thats no real chore, funnily enough my 5 started life
in signal red,
cheers,
Laurence,
ps having seen Neils,(ntc), 5 close up i must say that it does look
very good in white
-
Thanks for all comments/recollections, helpful as always chaps.
cheers
Laurence.
ps Rob,-point well made, will take an overall view, as a realist and a touch cynical
will keep my wits about me and my eyes open

Hi All,
Hopefully i will be viewing a TR6 on saturday and understand from vendor
the car in question was restored in the 80s by the above specialist, does
anyone know anything about this outfit, in particular quality of work etc?, i am
pretty sure not still trading but maybe under a new name,

Laurence
