BH products do the job,-and its a messy one!,I've used both clear and black coloured products, agreed the Web site is not the best but the product, imho, certainly is,

Many thanks to Deggers and Tim, info and link much appreciated. The TR6 wheels are 5.5J so should be ok with165/80 tyres. I can't find any winter/snow tyres that are 185/70/15,
cheers,

Deggers,
I was looking at having the vred snow tyres for a set of TR6 steel wheels this winter and wondered how you got on with them last winter,

Barry,
Having had a fair bit of work carried on my TRs,both webered cars, over the years i can recommend Mike Tarr as someone who really understands the workings of webers and also charges sensible prices for that work. I have no financial interest just a satisfied customer,
cheers,
Laurence

Roger,
That 2nd plate looks really sharp, so much better, imho, than the1st. for some reason that first style has become popular on pre '73 cars but always reminds me of the computer script plates of the early '80s,still,each to their own,
cheers,

I've had the standard set up on my 5 for 40k miles over the past six years and only changed the pads once.I moved to the hawk pads,as fitted by Stuart two years ago, and can recommend them for fast road use and no brake fade storming down the Stelvio on two occasions . I would suggest, however, changing the fluid regularly and cleaning calipers etc is a must to keep things on form,
cheers,

the id lights were those fixed next to the entry number on the car. Gave pit crews the chance to see the number of the car at night ,

Hi Rob,
It would be tricky even for someone who is regarded an 'expert' to give an accurate view/valuation of yours or anyone elses car just by viewing photos. The car has been available for a while now and is priced, rightly, at the top end of the range. The problem, imho, is the glut of 6s currently available, just look at the number of ebay entries for example. In hindsight, I was lucky to get my modified 6 away late last year at near my asking price,in my case a local 'collector' of classic modified sports cars bought it,-the car now resides in the lap of luxury,-a dehumidified garage, and doesn't turn a wheel in anger very often.
I wish you luck with trying to sell it,-maybe worth considering a commission sale with one of the known TR specialists who still seem to be turning over stock,
cheers,
Laurence

I have used dynitrol over the past few years and it works well without degrading,ie drying out and cracking, i also beleve there is a discount for TRR members, check recent mag. Messy job mind , but worth it,
cheers,

Funny ,i'm sure there is an emerald green TR6 in Cornwall that has a v similar plate;- GCV 221L,

I have a set of pirelli cinturatos fitted to both the 5 and 6, have worn well,over10k miles on the 5, and offer good
handling in all conditions. They are 195/65/15, from memory, they were around £70 per corner fitted and balanced,
cheers,

My 5 has covered an average of 7k miles each year for the past five years. As Tom says best to avoid salted
road conditions, tho, not a huge issue for most of the year down here in S Devon.
I have waxoiled it regularly, indeed, i am doing this dirty job this evening . Bar a multitude of stone chips underneath
particularly on the forward facing chassis gussets the car has held up well.
Its a shame imho that a lot of 5s are effectively nogo showboats, still, thats the market for you..,
cheers,
Laurence

There is what looks like a relatively recent photo on Cornwall Groups website, not sure whether the car still resides in Cornwall or
not, but at least it suggests the car has probably survived .
It might be worth making contact with DVLA, i understand they can be helpfull ,
cheers and good luck with your search,
Laurence

If you get the chance Tim there are a couple of local TR get togethers during your time down here.
This friday is the Devon get together at the Dartmoor Lodge,Ashburton,TQ13 7JW from 7pm til closing time.
Cornwall group are doing a mini tour of North Cornwall on the evening of the 7th Aug, worth checking the website for more details:www.groups.tr-register.co.uk/cornwall.
Hope the car behaves ,
cheers,

I have stick- on plates on both the 5 and the 6. Have been through MoTs in recent times without any comment
re the front plates. In the case of the 5 it is on the front edge of the bonnet, like 'North London Mike's 4 and the 6 is stuck to the valence,
cheers,
Laurence

I wonder how many of the very early TR5s ie CP1-20, actually survive, seems like a few.
Like others, I recall seeing CP2,in a rough state, at TRBitz,
cheers,
Laurence
