Mike was that you and NLG and Lea Valley that we passed at McDs just off the A505 near Therefield..?

    Hi Sue

No, not us we were A10 and then A1092 but good to hear other TR's were out there B)

  2. The NLG joined forces with Lea Valley and drove cross country to Long Melford, Suffolk and the National Trust property, Melford Hall. 170 mile round trip for most of the NLG. Lots of other classics on the road (but we couldn't match Sue's count )

Please wait while image is uploading...

  3. Another vote for the club (TRR) scheme. Multi-car policy, competitive on renewal, again, and, worth more than diamonds, the ability to drive other members cars insured on the TRR scheme. Brilliant for touring and club events where you are sharing a car with a mate. Used it for years, very good service, recommended !

Sorry, been away, assume you have it sorted now, costs are correct and discount code has been sent out to members. Lets hope it's dry (Malvern 2007 !!!)

  5. Bought a Racetorations alloy rad for my TR4 (fire sale on a discontinued project), super quality and nice to have something to polish. However, I can confirm that, when fitted to LNK, there was no measurable cooling improvement over my original Stanpart item. For me, the biggest improvement come from fitting a Revotec Comex fan, biggest, highest air flow I could fit on the TR4 rad (12''). Fit a standard rad but upgrade your fan was my experience BUT, we all like a bit of bling

  6. MX5, Sep Head Rests, work really well in any TR and can be trimmed to suit. VERY important to trial drive a members car with the seat of your choice already fitted, try before you buy. Agree John M's comments, last year coming back from Sicily, did 3 back to back tour days averaging over 400 miles per day

  7. LNK is a TR4 on twin 45 webers and a hot cam. During a recent trip to Italy (39 degs in Monza) and stuck in traffic I had to change plugs four times over a three day period due to Italian traffic management in and out of the circuit. Only option I had was a good go with the wire brush and then a final emery cloth polish. the original set went through the car three times, never lost a plug........but to be fair, both sets were less than 2000/3000 miles (NGK) after a mid year service

Can attest to moby's poke. She chased us up the gross glokner pass in the 10CR  and acquitted herself well. For the record we were in my supercharged tr6. We didn't have to change down below 4th on the climb. Great torque. But then we also destroyed a set of ujs on the driveshafts.

    Tim

For anybody interested, MOBY is for sale, please see classified. Thank you

  9. Couple of thoughts, if they are after YOUR car (vin/ model type) then they have to know where it is. So, most likely at home in your garage, they'll drag it out with a truck

However, if at a show, IWE etc, then it's an opportunist looking to steal a TR, and all you have to do is make yours harder to steal than the next guys TR

Finally, if you're away touring, nobody knows you're there, you're probably OK. The local guys are after a modern golf or similar and would not know what to do with a 50/60yr old car................I've parked LNK all over Europe, no problem

...........and remember some days even the owners can't start them

Ps. In your local group ask about car theft. In the North London Group, only one car stolen in the last 20 years, from a car show, driven out, it was parked oof down, doors locked but no anti theft devices (and finally, make sure you have agreed value)

Never a good idea IMHO. Blipping the throttle gives a rich squirt of petrol into the cylinder that washes oil off the bores, so next time you start there is less residual lubrication.

+1 Its was a thing in the '80's outside the girlfriends house B), but in the real world not a good idea. Anti social, uses more fuel, promotes engine wear, not recommended

  11. I have always used insulation tape and a blade to trim, both already in the tool box. The area to tape is marked in the lens (Halogen H4 conversion ) and as above, it is to the right of the lens in direction of travel, to the left as you look at it, photo attached

  12. I Had a similar problem and had the tank out as I was fishing out the last of the rubber 'blobs' after the old fuel lines and the rubber tank to deck hose got eaten by E5/E10 etc. Hoses are all R9 now and Moss had a deal on TR6 pattern mild steel tanks (they are all the same size, just different holes for PI Vs carbs). That was 7 years ago, still going strong. Original design and material

    https://www.moss-europe.co.uk/fuel-tank-steel-universal-312359.html?assoc=129200   £326 (Back order)

https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-312359   £336 inc vat  (in stock)
