  1. This Gimbal is amazing. Combined with the Hero cameras it helps produce silky smooth shake free videos. You really need to Google this Gimbal for full information or search on Youtube to get an idea how they actually perform. There is a bonus with mine, I will also include the correct IR remote control and a 3 section extension pole. The complete works at a bargain price, £85 plus postage.

  2. I bought two refurbished Hero 4 Silvers from GoPro back in March. With its improved video quality and its integral rear screen it is bar far the best GoPro I have owned, and I’ve had a few. It has only been used twice. It is completely immaculate and works as new, as you would expect.  It seems that the general opinion is that the Hero 4 Silver is better than the camera which have replaced it. I certainly cannot fault it. There is still 6 months warranty left.

Get yourself a bargain, £120 including free 1st class delivery.

  3. I know that this probably is not the correct section to advertise this but, before I list it on eBay I thought that I would offer this on the forum.

A few months ago I bought two GoPro Hero 4 Silver cameras from GoPro. These are not brand new but factory refurbished items which are fully guaranteed for a year. I have used several Gopros over the years on the Cornwall evening runs and then decided to treat myself to the Hero 4s because they have the built in touch screen. In my opinion they are the best GoPro available, including all the later versions.

However, I have now sold my 13th and last TR and filming from a Mazda MX5 has no appeal to me.

So, I am keeping one and am offering the other. It is mint, as new, in its box with 10 months guarantee remaining. I will include an SD Card so its ready to go. If you check out the prices for used cameras, (without a guarantee), you will see that at £110 plus postage, it is an absolute steal.

    PM me with any questions.

  5. Thanks for all the replies and a special thanks to Stuart who, as usual, is always there for the best advice. Rest assured, Peter will correct the problem and in due course I will report back with the outcome.

There is no substitute for experience! Weve all made, what in hindsight, is an obvious mistake.

    Rodders, ( without a TR after 54 years ).

  6. My friend has just lowered his body onto a rebuilt chassis and is having self doubt about his work.

To start with, he is a brilliant engineer and has been very methodical in the process of repairing the chassis. He built the most amazing jig prior to removing the rear chassis etc. The chassis and cross members are all new from the t shirt back. Having seen the jig arrangement and the way he measured everything prior to starting the removal of the original rusty sections, I cannot believe that he has misaligned anything.

The floor to chassis mounting points have only needed a couple of spacers as have to rearmost mountings.

However the cross member that goes under the spare wheel well is at least a couple of inches away from the replaced boot floor. We are wondering how good the shape of the replacement floor is.

Also the mounting point in the first photo there is at least a couple of inches gap between the body and chassis.

I would be interested in any comments from anyone who has an unrestored car or from anyone who may have experienced similar problems during a rebuild.

    Thanks, Rodders.

PS the title is not a figment but fitment!

  7. Does anyone have a spare PI filter box, the can that holds the paper filter, not the plenum. It is needed for a TR5, which I have just been informed, is different to the TR6. It is for my friends rebuild?

Any advice on the difference or where I can obtain the correct box/can would be appreciated.

    Rodders.

  8. Hi, does anyone have an unwanted PI air filter box, the one that bolts on the side of the radiator, not the plenum.

This is needed for my friends TR5 rebuild. Sods law, I sold one a couple of years ago.

    He would be most grateful.

  9. Hi Rodders

just another alternative. I've used this company twice. Excellent. They make everything in-house. Last year I paid approx £400 for a new dashboard and door cappings in Elm for a TR5.

Thanks chaps. I’ve now received a couple of recommendations for “Classical Dash” and think that this is where we’re going.

  10. I never seem to have any success using keywords to search for information on the forum website so, at the risk of appearing repetitive, Ill try a straightforward question.

A friend of mine who is 2/3 of the way through a TR5 restoration has asked me the best place to obtain an original quality TR5 dashboard. He has his original dashboard which has a roached veneer. Any advice regarding a restorer of his original or replacement would be much appreciated.

    Rodders.
