  1. Brian,

If it helps, I have a number of original steel sidescreen tunnels. I’d suspect largely later ones.

The fibreglass later ones won’t be terribly easy to fit as they attach differently to the bulkhead.

If you’d like to buy a steel one, let me know.

Shipping is likely to be a bit difficult due to size, but I’m sure we could sort something out, or you could collect......

  2. What are the numbers on the sender? Here’s two different ones for sidescreen cars.

If Conrad can’t help, let me know and I’ll have a look at what I have available. Offhand, I really can’t remember as it’s ages since I looked at them.

  3. If anyone is interested, I can put you in touch with the current owner of a set of perfect condition but used 92mm pistons, liners and standard length h beam con rods. The rods have big end size for a steel crank. I think that this is likely to be Ford cosworth dimensions.

I have yet to establish a price for these from the owner, but I suspect it’s all going to be a bit of a bargain if it’s your bag.

These have been removed from an engine that needs to go to 87mm due to regulations.

  5. This isn’t as bad as the doom mongers suggest.

If your race car is road registered and insured, you can get a green card for it. You’ll also need a green card for your tow car and your trailer too.

I discussed this with a-plan this afternoon and discovered that none of it will be difficult. Just needs to be done in plenty of time before travel.

  6. My understanding is that the only correct thread on the top of the sidescreen gearstick is 7/16 x 32tpi.

Certainly, that's been the case with all of the gearboxes I've seen over the years.

Of course, anything could have happened over the years......

  7. Questions have been asked from Australia about the car in the pictures below.

It's being described as a fibre glass bodied TR3, that was towed to race tracks by a TR6.

It seems to have a UK Q-reg, which may mean that it's of unknown age, or it's a kit car of some description.

I'm aware that there are kit car copies of the TR3 and TR3a being made.

If anyone can shed any light about this car or its history, I'll pass it back to the interested party in Australia.

    Thanks

    David

  8. If you open up the boot floor to the spare wheel well, you will be able to fit the correct sized spare wheel in there, and, as Stuart points out, avoid the problem of where to put the wheel with the punctured tyre.

Personally, I wouldn’t contemplate a different sized spare for a number of reasons including how I’d feel should there be a ‘problem’ involving other people whilst using the odd wheel tyre combination illegally, and also the then consequent insurance problems and likely prosecution for driving an unroadworthy vehicle.

    Sorry!

  9. I’ve probably got a wing with that area in reasonable condition if you really do want to repair yours.

Happy to sell you a complete wing, but you’ll need to come and collect it from Warwickshire. Alternatively, if you don’t want the rest, I can chop off the area you want and post it to you.
