  1. Hi All so success I have fitted TR6 switch as suggested with the diode and i have two speeds. Thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread. In the end it was very simple to do with the knowledge. I have another TR5 to do and a friend who has a TR5 with a similar problem who i can now sort out.

Many thanks again everyone I am a very, very happy smiley person!

    Clem

  2. Hi Rob thanks for the info, yes the postal  prices are stupid now since BREXIT. Then there will be a custom charge at this end i have to pay or they take the package away.  I no longer get stuff sent from the UK i wait until i am over visiting family and pick it up to bring back its like being in third world country now, but hey ho my choice.

Once i have it all fitted and working i will post on here, thanks.

  3. Rob,  So indeed if you have slow and fast speed together then it does indeed turn at a slow speed the take away the slow speed and it works at faster speed i can get it to work off a battery but not on a switch i have a 3 connector switch but i can't get the slow and fast speed to connect at the same time. any suggestions?  Cheers Clem

  4. UPDATE - so i have tested the new motor on a battery and it DOES work, fast speed is fine but slow speed turns so slowly that it wouldn't turn the wipers at all!

Thanks for the heads up Roger - noted now.

At least i have one speed - fast. but i paid to have a workable two speed motor so another call to moss.

    And life goes on!

  5. Has anyone had a refurbed wiper motor as an exchange from moss?

I swapped mine for a refurbed one at stoneleigh and it doesn't work. But the 3 wires that come out of it have no colour coding to match up to the wiring loom. Infact i am not sure what refurbed means anymore.

Has anyone had the same experience?

  6. Does anyone have a set of instructions for fitting a surrey top?

I have recently bought a surrey top set to fit to my TR5 but it didn't come with instructions. Before i start drilling the rear frame and windscreen frame i want to make sure the holes are in the right place etc etc even some photos of where the fixings go would be great.

    Many thanks in advance Clem

  7. Hi guys its all well and good saying DIY but some people in the world just can't do mechanical stuff its not in their DNA.

What would be a good idea is if a nice person said " bring it over i will do it for you at cost!"  but it doesn't appear someone will.

Here in France i have become the go to guy for triumphs. I meet new people etc etc. Providing the work is a service then its a pleasure to do it. Anymore than that its difficult as i have enough on with my restos.

But advice is free as Kcsun on here knows.

  8. Not something i would give thought to as i have changed a few in my time, tricky but doable. as suggested its the rest of the car you might need to be more concerned about. I find that the original matrix properly cleaned  gives more than enough heat for my wife when we drive through the alps and snowy Pyrenees, and that's saying something!
