I did a quick search to see if there was already a thread into which we might share old photos of TR's. I couldn't see one but if there is then perhaps the admin will kindly move this one across for me, and delete this topic.  If not then please feel to add your own old photo to this topic, as many of us do enjoy a virtual step back in time, and the speculation these pic's inspire.

    Cheers.  Pete

I might only presume this to be an import shipping terminal, and the TR3A's have no windscreen fitted from where they were stacked on multiple levels with least air space inbetween.

Wow, what a coincidence. My son lives in Portland and a few years ago he had an apartment while waiting to buy a house. This building was in the view from his apartment. I have looked on Google and it is still there and still being used for car imports although my son says it is slated for redevelopment of the riverside into more apartment buildings. Looking at old maps, this building was probably built around 1960, so is probably freshly built in the photo.

  2. We have often watched a webcam overlooking Dawlish sea front during the construction of the new seawall. The wind and waves at high tide on Thur morning, were the the worst I have ever observed. The new seawall was undamaged but some of the old seawall was damaged.

I experienced a similar problem with my 4A, when the pressure dropped suddenly several times during a long run. On investigation, I found what looked like copper wire in the relief valve. Cleaned it and everything was OK. When I eventually dropped the sump, I found the oil pump filter gauze to be damaged as you found, it has a copper finish, so it got replaced as I assumed it was a part of this which jammed the relief valve. No problems since(15 years).

How long do Aeroquip braided brake hoses last?

Rubber hose show their age but stainless braided ones look just the same many years on.

Andy, I have just replaced the braided hoses on my TR4A. They have been on 20 years and show no sign of deterioration but for the cost, worth changing.

I wonder how quickly those roads will be repaired.   In Japn, a motorwya destroyed by yhe eqrthqualke of 2011 was rebuilt in a week

Some of the roads will take months even to make temporary repairs. One rail link has partially opened and one of the highways is expected to open early next week but only for essential travel. I have just heard that the sinkhole north of us is being filled in and the road is expected to open sometime tomorrow.

Fuel has been rationed, 30 litres max. from today and many supermarket shelves are empty.

  6. I have a question about electric cars. Here in BC there are several hundred cars with occupants trapped for days by landslides and washed out roads. A petrol or diesel car can idle for hours or days and if necessary can be refuelled relatively easy by emergency crews. How long can an EV be expected to keep the occupants warm?

  7. Thanks for your concerns. We are OK, not badly affected but the highway south from Nanaimo has only partially opened today and the highway north has closed this afternoon due to a sinkhole appearing. We only have the one highway north to south! There are some minor roads closed due to bridge damage and slips. Extra ferries have been running from south island to Nanaimo which is unusual as they only go to the mainland normally.

The rain over last weekend and Monday was of biblical proportions and all the links out of Vancouver are severed including railways and the fuel pipeline from Alberta is shut. Simon's link above shows the extent. I guess there will be supply shortages over the coming weeks.

    Graeme & Sue.
