Wow!!!of course with SLK was easier, do you still keep it today? In those years I had a 200k but blue, I sold in 2005, what a "connection". That park is really nice and big. I saw very fast cause we was late for the "hour check point" and I was fighting with the "overheating" (was June ) but I will always keep a great memory of that ride.

Great news, thank you so much!!!…now I perfectly know how to renew all the shoes.
i am from north of Italy, usually I buy my spare parts from “British Racing Green” they are a really professional team, they already advice me a workshop who works on friction material.
-
That could help me a lot, mine is a very early TR2, Lockheed… 10” and 9” behind so I will show them drums and ask how many mm? Hope you can find the new one, thank you
-
Thank you, the friction material is glued. So if I want to renew all the shoes, front and back I can ask to make 5mm all of them?

I am working on brakes and I am wondering how much is the right thickness of the “substance “ on shoes, any help?

So, need to remove also brakes and the bearing holder(40/41)?I don't understand if the bearing is in the part "2" or in the bearing holder
-
Hi,
sorry if I use Your topic to make a question: is possible to remove and replace a new bearing without removing the part 45/48 ?
I checked and I think my back wheel need a new bearing, I hope it's an "easy" job for a Sunday afternoon.
thanks for help

Hi Max, did you clamp off the flexible rear brake hose when you changed the cylinders if not the master cylinder would probably have drained off letting in lots of air, so you may have to bleed the entire system. Also the pistons inside the cylinders must be fully down to the bottom of the cylinder to insure that there is no air gap which is why it's necessary to fully wind up the adjusters. Cheers, Bill.
Hi Bill thank you and no, i didn't clamp the hose , my plan is to change all oil system.Tomorrow will be a long day...any advice for a right and fast bleed is well accepted.
-
Last doubt?the part of cylinder I rounded in the pic below, must be forced till the bottom of the hole as I mark with in the other pic?cylinder don’t have to be able to move, right?
-
Thank you...this Sunday I will solve it
-
Thank You Stuart
do you mean that I have to rebuilt shoes and drum before bleeding?
-
hi John , an early Tr2
-
Thank you Bob
any advice?
-
Thank you Roger
Done and fluid come...just look like there is not enough press ion to move the cylinder.
Front brakes works perfectly
I am beginning to think I have bubble of air in the new cylinder

Many UK members have helped me with advice, parts and encouragement in the restoration of my long door TR2 between 2017 and a couple of years ago. Others will be aware of the car and a couple of members have been for a drive in it while visiting Australia pre covid.
The car was built as a driver but also as a Concours standard restoration. It is a genuine two previous owner car which has just now ticked over 80,000 miles.
Due to covid we haven't had any Concours events in Australia since the virus shut things down. Things are starting up and the Triumph Sports Owners Association had their first post covid Concours in late September and the TR Register Australia last weekend.
As the TR2 had covered over 3,000 miles since I put it back on the road I wasn't confident the car would be judged too highly at exacting Concours standards. However, nothing ventured nothing gained.
Last month I drove the car to the TSOA Concours, in Penrith about 50kms from home. TSOA includes all Triumph models and the TR2 came away with an outright win and got People's Choice as well.
A few weeks later I drove the car down to Merimbula (a beautiful coastal town 460kms south of Sydney) for the TR Register Concours and was rewarded with another outright Concours win and best TR2.
I am obviously very pleased that the car has been judged by two independent groups as the best Concours car on the day and just as much because the drives to both events were a great deal of fun in a fantastic driving example of an early original TR2.
Here is a photo of the car with a few other TRs on a run after the Register Concours and in the garage before the event.
Thank you to all those who helped me in whatever way.
wow,congrats!

Frederick Reydellet's Tome 5 of his splendid series "Les Triumph en Competition" states for the 1955 Mille Miglia that the rally started in Brescia on 30th April and ran until 1st May:
610 809CMF R. Steed - A. Bruce (GB/TR2) - Abandon, moteur
611 OKV72 L. Brooke - D. Lampe (GB/TR2) - 59th scratch, 10th Sport 2 litres, 13h54'52'' at 114.77 km/h
Interesting that Iain states a different navigator (Adams) for 610.
On page 209 there's a photo of OKV72 at the start. This was the year in which Stirling Moss, navigated by Denis Jenkinson, set an unbeatable record of 10h7'48'' for the 1000 miles in the Mercedes.

i am really curious if they really improve the braking instead of some new kind of friction material
