I removed the sender unit which looked as new checked the resistance which was all as the book(wiring diagram supplied by Howard) the float had a small amount of liquid in it I presumed it was petrol I fitted a new float same diameter but about 6mm longer checked the cable g/b from gauge to sender all good the gauge then read 3/4 full in the meantime I managed to get hold of a new old sock fuel gauge duly fitted gauge then read 1/2 full filled it up gauge read near as admit full BUT on returning home needle on gauge fluctuating especially round corners any advice , was thinking maybe put old gauge back in and try it again
-
Sorry it was the fuel gauge I was referring to I have now traced the cables I had been looking for a round sheaf of wires but they were a flat pack of wires thanks
-
Can anyone tell the g/b cable takes from the gauge to the sender unit Thanks
-
Thanks for everyone’s help I will be looking at all this next week and pass on the results

Just an add on to my last post the sensor looks quit new the anodising is still on also when I remove the sensor should the gauge show when I move the float
-
Ok took the wire off the sender unit and the gauge went to empty does this look like a new sender unit if I remember rightly the last time I filled it i really brimmed it could this have caused it?
-
After 4 years of ownership my fuel gauge now has decided to always show full when switched on .I have checked the connections at the sender unit cleaned them I checked I there is power 11-6 volts . What next take out the dash and check the power cable for resistance ? What is good resistance? What next? Any suggestions would be appreciated hope I can bottom it before I take on the RBRR

Just purchased the remote controle bushes (poly) and was told the spacers would come with them they didn't when I stripped mine down there were no spacers ukc1090 does anyone have sizes for these I could turn some up or is it just a case of measuring the thickness of the bracket plus the polly bushes the internal bore would be clearance on the bolt and o/ d the internal diameter of poli bush would this be correct
