  1. Same issue with this part not being correctly made.

That’s now the second ratchet and pawl from the same supplier that has failed in less than 4000 miles.

I managed to obtain a second hand original from Revingtons. When putting the original and remade parts together it is clear they are not even close to being the same.

The new ones may work for an initial short period but the engagement between the pawl and teeth of the ratchet is less than 1mm, leading to accelerated wear and quick failure.

…as this is a safety critical item, surely we should expect better from a major supplier?

  2. What a great day out, recommended to all TR sports car owners!

This was the second time getting my 3A onto the track and getting a little more familiar with her capabilities.

The event is very friendly, run extremely safely and respectfully to each other and the cars.A99FA690-80E7-4683-84AA-0566B3B748F6.jpeg.3c0705480751cb20a3794a9997ad9a5f.jpeg

Time on track is very generous and great value for money, particularly when it includes a great photo by Jim Gaisford

Many Thanks to Kevin for planning another great day and his enormous enthusiasm for the sporting side of our sports cars.

    Appreciate it Kev, Cheers

  3. I’ve very recently made the change, it’s early days and the car has not been out yet.

    my personal observations on the change;

The Radtec radiator I used was middle ground in terms of cost (around £500)

the quality appears to be very good, certainly seems stronger around the neck extension

when comparing the weight between both copper & alloy the difference is remarkable.

word of warning though, you may have to make very minor modifications to the fittings

    good luck with it

    Neil

  4. On Page 17 of the latest TR action Magazine July 2022,  Peter supplies a couple of pictures of the end to end run from Oct 1973.

More info was kindly supplied by Julian Stephens in an earlier thread.

The event is also recorded in a magazine article (below)

Now the reason for trying to contact Peter Gore, is the photo he shows is of my car, 637JHU.

It was driven on the event by Julian, who has kindly supplied me some photos, but it would be great to add a better quality version of Peters photo to the cars history file.

Well done Neil, I’ve known this car from the very early 1990’s…….. I used to rally with the other Neil at the time and your car was developed as the testing/ proving of all his innovations/ improvements…… You’ve got a good un

    Thanks very much Tony.
I certainly think it’s a "good un" great to find out it’s history.

if you have any recollections of her, I’d love to find out more?

I’m pretty sure the car used to belong to Neil Revington. In 2006 when I bought my TR3a from the States I discovered it had a door from an older car on the RHS. (It had square corners and a wooden top frame). I swapped it with Neil for a pale blue one with a dent in it. At the time he told me I was getting a door from a rally winner.

so I suspect my driver’s door started life on this car.

    Rgds Ian

Great to find out these little stories!

all adds to the cars history

  7. It will be a keeper

    just enjoying it at present

I’m attending my local TRR Glavon runs and tours to build up a little experience and knowledge and within the next couple of years get into some rallies and events.

    (fingers crossed)

Never tried any form of motorsport yet, so eager to learn.

    long term triumph owner though!
