  2. Overdive Problem

    Hi All,

    Overdrive was working ok - now I can hear the solenoid clicking in when you turn the ignition on regardless of whether the gearbox is in any gear including neutral and regardless of whether the overdrice switch is on or off! Any clues whats happened?

    Hi all,

    After 10 years of blood sweat and tears its finally come out of the garage under its own steam!

    Without the help of this forum I dont know what i would have done - wiring solved by Bob and numerous answers from Roger plus too many others to mention.

    Thanks to everyone - just got to convince the wife i need a new project!

  6. Angled Speedo Drive

    Hi all,

    Just fitted the angled speedo drive and new cable - if i tighten the brass ring fully the cable points to the floor! To get the angle right i am having to leave slighlty loose - is that correct / ok?

  8. Horn Relay

    Hi All / Rob,

    Now doing overdrive wiring - I plan using the same new relay so first question is that ok?

    Secondly if so I now have:

    White cable from ignition

    Brown from ammeter

    Yellow/Purple (Pink!) going to overdrive solenoid

    Yellow / Green from overdrive lever on steering column

    What number connections do the above go onto - I have 85,86,87 and 30

  10. Horn Relay

    Hi Guys,

    Next question!

    I am replacing my old faulty horn relay with a new modern one.

    The new one has connections 85, 86, 87 and 30.

    I have a new loom with the following cables - Pink, Pink and Black, Pink and Yellow.

    What colours go where on the new relay!

    Hi Bob,

    So Rather than just trust my 4A has a 4A lever i decided to measure it and guess what its 274mm and 156 degrees so either at the factory or subsequent 50 years ive got the wrong lever anyway!

    So I'm happy to buy one of yours if you could send me a PM and give it a go!

    Thanks for everyone’s replies so far - I’m told the Tr4 lever is slightly different from the 4a??? re chrome I’m not too concerned in the state of the chrome if anyone does have one for a 4a.

  18. Main Beam Dimmer

    Hi All,

     

    Just started putting my new loom in under the dash after 7 year re build so lots of questions over next few days / weeks!

    First one where do the wires for the foot operated dimmer go - i have a blue, two blue and white in one connector and a blue red.

    The three positions are as per attached pic

  23. Front Number Plate

    Hi all,

    Quick question - how was the front number plate originally fixed to the bumper?

    Looking at google images it appears some are fitted central to the number plate as if screwed directly to it and others look like the number plate is under the number plate on some sort of bracket?
