Hi Conrad, I live on the Wirral as well, Mine is a 1972 which I have had since April 1977. I also had an 850 estate as well, but since selling I've had three D70 estates.
The TR is currently under restoration but it has been on the back burner for a while while. If you want any help with anything please PM me at anytime.
Cheers,
Jon.

!'ve always thought that it was to hang the body as it went through the paint spraying process - probably wrong though!

I've had some rubbish off the TR Shop as well - although they did give me a refund for the parts (but not all the wasted time spent trying to fit them mind!).
I'm still waiting for the "B" post I ordered over forty years ago and, while I'm thinking about it, a refund on the PR valve that failed just after I had landed in France!
Not that I'm overly impressed with Rimmers either, especially when they have warning posters to employees regarding nicking stuff that the customer can or could see. Trblitz would be my first port of call for those of us in the northwest.

I take it that you have opened the bleed screw on the slave cylinder but, not before attaching a plastic pipe/hose first the other end immersed in a partially filled jam jar of brake fluid; though a "easy bleed" would make things a lot easier.
However, if when you open the bleed screw and nothing comes down the pipe when you or an assistant presses the clutch pedal this indicates that there is a blockage somewhere, most likely in the master cylinder in which case you will have to remove and disassemble the master cylinder and check and or replace the rubbers. While it is disassembled check that all the holes are free from debris and that the inside of the cylinder is not scoured, if it is then you will have to replace it.
While I'm thinking about it, make sure that you fit the bleed screw above the pipe in the slave cylinder.
Hope this helps and that I'm not telling you how to suck eggs,
Jon.

It is not a good idea to include phone numbers in this sort of post, always do it via private messaging (PM)

Soak the studs with diesel or automatic transmission fluid or a mixture of both and leave for a day or two.

Better to have
lovedtried and lost than never to havelovedtried at all.Whatever the result you will be coming out of the experience a better, more skilled man than you went in. You will also know your car and the components and functions and so much better equipped to diagnose any future problems.
If you had simply paid to have it done how much poorer you would have been in both meanings of the word. If it was easy we would all be doing it.

Excellent advice but, If you think that's difficult try a V12 XJS; I have to sort that out before I can restart on the 6.

You have probably been given hoses with metric treads whereas the unions on the car are imperial threads; you should be able to exchange the new hoses for ones with imperial threads though.

Is it a photo shoot for an advert? Slogan could be along the lines of:
"Remember what we produced before joining the EU- let Britain Triumph again!"
Unfortunately not, it's supposed to be "work of art". There is some artistic merit of course but not in the way the "artist" intended I expect.

it's my understanding that if an item is exported from the UK then there is no UK tax payable; or have got hold of the wrong end of the stick?

Given the present market conditions and the pictures I don't think that it too far over the top pricewise. But, there is a fair amount of work and expense required to bring it up to a reasonable standard. Certainty worth a punt - make him an offer but, go and see it first; never, ever buy blind.

Not much left of the original by the sound and look of it; but a fair guide price I would have thought.

That garage is far to clean and tidy.

Having finally found an SD card that would work in my LM-2 AFR gauge, I took the car out for a run tonight and recorded some parts. Ignore the RPM figures, I only have an inductive clamp at the moment and it talks nonsense once on the move.
Session 1 40mph - 76mph under medium acceleration
Session 2 60mph - 70mph, reasonably steady
Session 3 slowing down to take 360 on large roundabout, car goes rich then move off again
What are your views, too weak at higher speeds I think
Can you explain this in plan English please?

I asked for a quote the other week for welding and replacing panels, which I already have, on my bare shell together with chassis work, plus painting shell and chassis - £22,595 - 95; this is the second estimate at around this price, Just to put things in perspective.
I feel that there will be a steep curve upwards, or maybe not, in ones welding skills over the coming winter!

A load of gentleman's dangly bits to me, and don't forget that this weekend is a bank holiday. A cash transfer from his A/C into yours, nothing else will do; and then transfer the money into another A/C immediately. Also state on the receipt that he has bought the vehicle unseen, and that you are not responsible for any problems that may arise at a later date, and make him sign it in your presence.
First and foremost, remember that this is a business transaction and not an old pals act.

PS As far as I can see there are no early morning departures for Oz on Friday from Heathrow in fact the first is at 0600.

It should be assembled dry if it is a cork gasket, if it is paper/card one then use some Hylomar; the main thing though is not to tighten the bolts to much.
