  1. Hi Neil.

    The link is perfectly safe.

Check to see if you have a virus on your machine or disable warning pop ups if you are on Windows.

Nobody else has reported any issues .I have also asked a number of friends to try the link and again no warnings.

    Regards

    Richard.

  2. Hi Everyone,

Without going into details only that they are of a personal nature,I reluctantly need to part with my beloved TR restoration.

Most of the serious stuff has been done so would be an ideal project for someone to finish.

The detailed restoration blog can be found at www.tr6reborn.weebly.com

It takes you to the point where it is now.

    If interested PM me.

    Regards

    Richard Young. (Leics)

  3. Agree with Waldi and Roger...also looking at my original post on this issue,at the time I did find that by taking one of the bolts out of the top ball joint and slightly loosening the other it assumed a steeper angle (with sus drooped) and did remedy the steering tightness to a degree,so my earlier comment on this post regarding the effect on the trunnion being the prime cause of the stiffness of the steering might in fact also point to the top balljoint adding to the problem.

I was wondering about the MOT question also.

  4. Mark,

Just to clarify Roger's comment re. top ball joints.Mine were from Rimmers, so I presume they would have been of decent quality and probably same as what Moss stock.Interesting that Moss state that there is no issue if they were of decent quality.

At the end of the day, the problem arose simply because the shocks were 330mm and should have been 300mm and the extra drop was causing the top ball joint to bind and cause the stiff steering issue.

Yep, send them back.I chose GAZ, more expensive but problem solved.

    regards

    Richard.

  5. Thanks for encouragement guys, not quite up to Ed's quality but hope not too far behind.

Been a long slog to this stage but still getting a buzz out of it that's the main thing...and trying not to look at the diminishing finances too often!

  6. Hi Everyone,

Ready to install the head and have just noticed that there 2 extra holes on the face of the block.

I checked the head and no corresponding holes.

The new gasket doesnt have the holes.

All gaskets I see online are the same as my gasket with no extra holes.

Anybody shed a light on this..do I just fit the gasket and assume the holes just dont go anywhere.

See pic with arrows to the extra holes and the other pic with the new gasket.

    Thanks in advance

    Regards

    Richard.

  7. Finished rebuilding the 175 strombergs using very nice rebuild kit from Burlen ltd..Very comprehensive kit with everything you need in it.The fixed jets were a pain to get out and the new ones in. Also powder coated the carbs so look nice and blingy.

So the rebuild is steadily progressing. Will update the blog this week.

  8. HI, I called www.knightengineservices.co.uk/ just outside Northampton a few weeks ago looking to see what was involved and what the costs were to convert a TR4 head, not 6, but don't imagine the costs would be more than 50% more (for the extra 2 cylinders).

Had quite a long conversation and he told me depends on what you need doing (guides, etc ...) but he said for the basic 4 exhaust values and seats and including a skim, £200.

He said the inlets were normally ok. But he could do anything needed up to including replacing all the values and guides if I wanted.

I rang 2 or 3 in my local area and this guy came across as knowing what he was talking about.

Plan to send the head over to him later in the year once she's laid up for the winter. He did say that I'd have to strip the head as this would be an extra costs if he had to strip and rebuilt.

Also thinking of using him to put in 89mm pistons and liners along with any other machining that might need doing as part of on going rebuilding process.

    Mark

    Hi Mark,

I'm looking into getting the head done...did you ever use the company you mentioned as I am not far from Northampton. If so did they do a good job
