Yes, Richards, I see your problem.

I just wonder how that could happen to Ben Freer

Well I can’t be certain why it happened to me, but on removal of the dezus springs one was worn thin and that was enough for it to rattle loose. The other side? well perhaps it wasn’t turned fully. All I know for sure is that the central hook catch is not sufficient to hold the bonnet down when travelling at 60. The other thing to mention is that having a bonnet flip up whilst travelling on an A-road with Aeroscreens effing well hurts! We were very lucky. I’m not prepared to risk a repeat performance hence the solution Drewmotty has referred to in his link.

What do you think about our weekend at the international my opinion it was very poor a waste of good money

I’m sorry that you feel that way. It was certainly cut down and the weather didn’t cooperate, however the main reason I attended was to meet up with people and that was satisfied. The autojumble and Bring&Buy were great and MUST be a major part of future events. I was disappointed that the trade suppliers weren’t there but on reflection I understand why they weren’t and in any case if I want new bits I go on line. Finding bargains in the Bring&Buy or autojumble is FAR more satisfying!

The camping facilities were just as good as at Malvern (although I did avoid the cold showers!)

I wasn’t bothered by the potholes on the way in (but then I came in my TRuck), if you lived in Devon those weren’t potholes, just minor irregularities in the road surface! If you saw the size of the Flea market at the other end of the Showground you would understand why our entrance was separate.

All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed the weekend.

    Shame Stuart didn't make it

    Bob

He was there, but no photographic evidence! The spanners (as in dogs) looked to be a bit of a handful. I failed to have a chat with him too!

  4. Of course I’d like to agree with you Ian! However I don’t think I have a leg to stand on as we wimped out of bringing Geoffrey, fully resplendent with Aeroscreens, to the show completely! Of course there were several very “good” reasons why we came in the TRuck but they don’t support your argument!

Lower windscreen seal from TR2/3 or MGA.  Set in a c shaped channel glued to the bottom edge of the aeroscreen.  The c shape is  aluminium and I have no source now.  The nearest is the steel channel used on TR4 door aperture to hold the door seal.  Issue with that is that it is steel and needs painting.   MGB uses something similar up the side of the windscreen frame, again steel but is supplied plated.

Pt No AHH 6409   https://mgbhive.co.uk/product/ahh6409-mgb-roadster-windscreen-pillar-seal-retainer/  They are slightly curved, but can be eased into shape.  To grip the seal either tap the leg of the c down or glue seal in with pu sealer

    This sort of thing Peter?

I have taken to using Lanoguard. Derived from sheep wool, therefore green. lanolin is highly effective at rust prevention and lubrication. Every seen a rusty field gate where sheep rub themselves?

    Iain

Thanks for that Iain, as a result of your comment I’m planning to rub one of our sheep over Geoffrey’s chassis  hope it doesn’t wriggle too much!

  7. Well done Tim, we were unable to participate this time but I know from previous years that you’re still buzzing having completed the event. We brought Geoffrey down to Bude where we were marshalling to cheer you on. He positively purred all the way home, I think he wants to do it again (!) and seeing all of you in the car park at Bude on a high was certainly infectious!
