Question, I am refitting original 4.5 x 15" steel wheels to my TR5 with Rostlye trims. The valves holes in the wheels are bigger 15mm instead of standard 13mm as on most wheels. This of course is not a problem as Land Rovers still have the larger hole and valves are readily available. The question is where TR5 wheels original fitted with innertubes?. I know the earlier cars had tubes fitted because the wheel rim was riveted to the centre of the wheel and air leaked especially when old. There was also a question as to if the rim on a TR5 was suitable for tubeless tyres due to the roll on the rim where the tyre beeding sat.

Thanks Stuart, just emailed Shipley for a quote.
Mike, where would the top be picked up? I typed in London and estimated weight and measurements. Can you email a few more pics? Payment I’ve done with bank transfer, cash in an envelope (don’t think I’d recommend that for that amount of money) or after thinking about it, I could arrange payment through in-law in UK.
is that an original TR3 part? I don’t care for the aftermarket one that is more “square”. Think it was made out of plastic. A profile pic would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Paul

I'm sure it could be, but I'm afraid I would have no idea regarding costs or what is required regarding packaging to protect it whilst it's being handled by a courier. I'm happy to help if you are happy to arrange this and I'm happy to help if you let me know what is required. Obviously payment would need to be had to myself before we proceed with transportation.

Hi All,
I am after a set of 15 x 7" wheels for a TR6.
Must be straight & good condition.
Many thanks in advance.
Hi Tom, have a set of 7inch wolfrace wheels repainted in anthracite shop with Yoko tyres with very little use.

Having had both breather pipes fitted to engines belonging to both TR2-TR3/3a. I was led to believe that the curved one was fitted at some stage as a modification in the TR3 production to allow easier access for the removal of the oil filter canister.

Okay Bill, I'm away for a few days but I will get a couple of photos asap and forward them on to you. Regards Mike

Hi Bill, I do have a steel hard top which I could sell. It requires some welding to the front edge I believe and has been stripped of paint and has surface rust, requires painting. No rear screen, headlining or trim, just a bare shell. £200.00. Mike H. Worc's

I purchased the car from Holmes Chapel in Cheshire Nov 74. The car was white on wires no Surrey and was in pretty good condition. I believe the car was originaly purchased by a serviceman in the forces who was stationed in Germany and re imported when 12 months old and then registered in Cornwall. The car was always RHD. I have many photo' s of the car whilst in my 20 year ownership and sold the car to purchase an e type jaguar. The ownership of Tr's did not stop as I also owned a Tr3a which bought in 1975 and still own and also a TR5 which I still own. Is that a recent picture of PRL and does it live in Cornwall. When I sold the car in 94 it went to a Coventry group member who owned the car for a number of years. The engine was rebuilt whilst in his ownership.

I owned this car for some 20 years from Nov1974 to Nov 94. I believe to car is still owned by a Register member and was seen on the lakes tour many years ago. Be good to catch up with the current owner.

Doe,s anyone know if PRL 144G is still in the TR Register. It was my first ever TR which I owned from Nov 74 to Nov 94.
I sold the car to a member of the Coventry group who I believe also owned the car for a number of years and was then sold to another Register member.
Last heard of the car taking part on the Lakes tour in the mid naughtys.
I still own and use TR's on a regular basis but would like to speak to the present owner if he would like to contact me.
Mike.

TR5 Steel wheels.

Many thanks Richard. I am due to pick up my wheels from being stove enameled on Saturday so I shall look at the marking. My wheels are off my friends TR250 which he imported from the USA recently. The wheels were fitted with 205 tyres ' a bit big I think !!! ' 3 fitted without tubes 1 with, but suspect this had had a puncture. Having spoken to a few people with TR5/250's with steel wheels fitted, some have tubes fitted others don't. I have a very good tyre fitter who will also confirm what is correct. Again thankyou for your reply. Mike
