Unfortunately I've no original old knobs to compare.
You can feel the nipples going into the holes they seem simply not long enough to also account for the sloppy fit on the original imperial hexagon shafts.
I fear it's just another story of poor aftermarket parts.
This is one of those conversations you wish you never walked in on !!!

£35 at the TR Shop, you could buy 3 for the price of one of the others!
Bill
I have had 3 failures of the old original type . Granted the last failure was down to a knackered speedo cable ….Stuart fitted the speedo -Lichfield one and I know longer have to worry about the speedo stopping . Well worth the expense .

How about those plastic bomb- shaped things which were supposed to take caps but worked better with red-top matches?
Back in the late 50's in Spain you could buy things called 'bombitas' which were a small screw of tissue paper containing (I think) black powder and some grit. When thrown with force against a hard surface they made a very satisfyingly-loud crack.
If I remember properly , they looked like V2 rockets .

Could try good old boot polish .
I used it on an old Mk3 cortina vinyl roof many years ago . Worked really well .
