  1. That sounds like a plan, I have a couple of 3/8 studs left over from the front suspension bolt kit, I could tighten this in with doubled up nuts. My only concern ,would the drilled out part of the stud be weakened or strong enough.

The other method I thought about was using two nuts ,as the first part of the thread is ok, if I use two thinner non nyloc,

What are your thoughts on that.

    Mark.

  2. Thanks for all your replies sorry for late response just returned back from the garage .

On further inspection there seems to be a reasonable amount of thread left on the stud .

I am going to try and retap, if that fails it looks like welding in anew one.

Keep you posted let you know how I get on.

    Many thanks Mark

  3. Help please

On refitting the diff to my newly painted chassis the front drivers side stud as stripped its thread.

Has any one used any of the available rethreding kits or the thread repair paste from loctite, other than stripping out and welding a new one in its place. I would be appreciative of any help on this matter.

    Look forward to your replies

  5. Hi

Just started putting my front suspension together, I have found that the internal part of the bushes are longer by about 4 mm than the internal part of the wishbones. Do I just compress them with washer and nut, or trim them down so the shoulder of the bush fits snug against side of the wishbone arm before fitting.

    Look forward to your replys.

  6. Good Morning

Whilst sorting through my papers came across a 1961 edition of car mechanics, very interesting reading . Anyway within is a section devoted to used car prices with a short description picture and current price.

Well in April 1961 you can buy a 1954 tr2 for the pricely sum of £375.00 WOW.

If anyone is interested the car pictured is white registration no DHP242, not sure if this picture was original triumph brochure material or an original 54 model. Be interesting to know if she's still on the road or still around.

Enjoy your weekend, I'll be in the garage working on my 6.

  7. Good evening to all,

I have a fairly good condition laycock clutch which was attached to a replacement engine I purchased a while ago. It as surface rust on the face and slight wear on the fingers ?.

Has anybody gone down the road of refurbishment against buying new.

Knowing laycock clutches are hard to come by these days and being a preferred choice I wondered if it was a wise decision to refurbish,

Anyone know a man who can?

    Look forward to your replys

  8. Hi Paul

Have you thought about reveneering your dash yourself ,I had ago myself and am very pleased with the end result.

The veneer was purchased from ebay cost me £12.50 +p&p, bit of glue and uv resistant varnish.

I chose burr walnut to cover mine.

If you don't mind a bit of work might be worth a go.

    Regards Mark.

  9. Hi

My name is Mark , and I am new to the register. I am currently restoring a 69 tr6 chassis off job.recently I read one of the topics on the forum about diff oil which I can no longer find.

I have just replaced all oil seal and bearings in my unit , my local motor factors advised me to use gl5 oil which was on there data base

This oil the forum mentioned corroded certain yellow metal parts within.

Can any one advise me on this, my unit as been standing with said oil for about 6 weeks will there be any damage.

Will I have to flush clean oil out and replace.

    Many thanks
