  1. Well my friend and I must have been lucky we left Ashtead in Surrey at about 08:40 and at about 10:45 we arrived at the road from the A46 to Stoneleigh Park and due to a road closure caused by flooding we were diverted along some back roads and arrived opposite the main entrance, a kind soul let us in the queue on the Stoneleigh Road and we were soon parked. A short walk to the hall entrance, our pre paid tickets let us dodge the ticket queue and we were in the main hall just after 11AM!

Very busy show plenty of bargains especially tools. Pity The TR Shop, TRGB and Revingtons were not there, but despite that we still managed to find the bits we wanted. Very good spares day, seems to work well with MG.

    Cheers

  2. Hi.

Has anyone fitted an additional Bosch fuel pump in parallel with the main pump so you can switch over to an auxiliary pump in case of failure/problems with the main pump. I have a spare Bosch pump which I carry in case of trouble but in occurred to me that that connecting it in parallel could save a lot of trouble. If anyone has already done this I would be very grateful for details of wiring and plumbing.

    Thank you.

  3. Hi, Andy

This is my radio set up. Pioneer DEH S720 DAB. The DAB Aerial is stuck to windscreen. I have an additional Aerial for FM and AM use but I only listen to DAB which works fine. The radio also has CD player, USB, Bluetooth and hands free telephone, microphone clips to sun vidor and works fine even with hood down. Also it does not look too out of place in the H frame. I am very pleased with the performance, I have a couple of speakers in the kidney panels and a further two in the bulkhead above the rear shelf.

  4. Hi Steve, I have just bought a replacement filter for my Bosch fuel pump set up supplied by Moss in 2003 https://www.moss-europe.co.uk/fuel-pump-kit-bosch-type-pi-tgk125.html?assoc=129050.

If you have this type of fuel pump, the part number for the filter is:

    PM232560 Bosch Fuel Filter 0450905005  I paid £15.07 from

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_dkr=1&iconV2Request=true&_ssn=carpartsinmotion&store_cat=0&store_name=carpartsinmotion&_oac=1&_nkw=bosch+fuel+filter&_pgn=4

    Hope this helps.

  5. Hi Alex, I had a similar problem with my TR6 earlier this year. I sent my MU off to Neil Ferguson for refurbishment and reinstalled. I checked cylinder compression,  around 200 psi per cylinder - all OK thankfully as I had fitted new pistons last year and had the head skimmed and new valves etc fitted not so long ago. I bought new plug leads, spark plugs, distributor cap and coil.  Checked fuel pressure 105 psi, bled injectors and set ignition advance. I have Luminition electronic ignition and that appeared to be working OK. Set tappets, balanced thottles, fitted new air filter and now I have a smooth responsive engine that is a joy to drive. Recently returned from round trip with mates to Classic Le Mans approx 800 miles and got nearly 30 miles to the gallon and we weren't hanging around. Hope this helps, good luck.

  6. Was my TR6 the only classic car on the road yesterday? I drove with a friend to meet other friends for a cruise on the Thames in a friend's cabin cruiser. We drove approximately 40 miles across Surrey to Berkshire, the six run beautifully, engine temperature only sightly exceeding normal temp. and oil pressure normal even in traffic. I have  a manual switched electric fan but not needed.

Even in 35deg plus temperature driving with the hood down was quite comfortable, and my friend who had never been in a classic sports car before agreed.

Sadly we did not see another classic car all day. Call us mad but we had a great day classic car driving , trip on the Thames and lunch and I think I have won another convert to classic cars!

  7. Hi Andy

A few years ago I had a big problem when my flywheel on my TR6 came loose. I found a couple of the bolts had sheared and two were loose, fortunately the flywheel did not fly off!

TR flywheels have only 4 bolts holding it to the crankshaft, most engines have six so it is vitally important that these bolts are of the highest tensile quality. I bought a new set made by ARP American Racing Products not cheap but a lot safer than the normal ones. MOSS do a set of special bolts not sure if they are ARP see here

I would definitely recommend that you fit these special bolts, do not reuse the old ones, mine came with special lubricant and thread lock.
