Is this tool available anywhere in the UK:
https://triumphwedgeowners.org/tr7-head-honcho/
If not, is there anything similar for hire?

18 months later and I've finally got round to installing a clock (I got one for Christmas).
Well chuffed with the result
Story and pics:

Got some from a local joiner. So all good.
Thanks everyone

Anyone know what size they are?
The previous owner bodged a repair and put in self-tappers.
I've got a repaired dash and new hinges but now need the right screws.

Doesn't have to be. There are plenty of members with the skills and the time to fix this for you.
There should no need to spend any money upgrading and enhancing the website, forum or the back office systems.

I had to install a replacement ignition switch last year because the original failed to function (the switch component fell to bits).
But the new one no longer locks the key in place, you can pull the key out with the engine still running. Or as happened yesterday, the key fell out while I was driving and ended up under my feet. This is probably not the best way to do things.
It this something I can fix or do I need to invest in a new switch?
And if so, are these any good: https://www.moss-europe.co.uk/steering-lock-assembly-with-ignition-switch-219061-1.html
It looks different to one I got last year.

So it's a permissions thing. Should be a simple fix.

Why do people park up over winter? I use mine all year round.
However, fuel has a shelf life of around 6 weeks. The aromatics start to boil off which means there are fewer of the compounds needs to get the engine started. That being said, Esso and Shell are two of the highest quality fuels so will last for longer. If you fill up at the supermarket you may be less fortunate.

Or just don't use McAfee. Just because BT gives you something for free doesn't mean you need to use it. And on a Mac you don't need to use it. All it does is slow things down.
-
Simple answer: don’t use mcafee , it’s almost as bad as Norton.
Ive not had any anti virus on my Mac for years and it’s never been a problem.

More than the Ignition wiring. I've got lumenition ignition installed and have now discovered I've also got a ballast wire as well as a ballast resistor. This means very few ergs to the coil.
So I've added a new bit of wire, upgraded the coil and the car now bursts into life with great vigour. And because the spark is now making Tesla jealous the engine is once more a mighty beast.
Smiles all round.

Turns out it was the ignition switch wiring. Just happened to coincide with installing the new starter motor.
Old cars are so much fun!
-
It's most odd. The starter motor spins but the engine won't start until you release the ignition key.
I feel like I'm missing something but can't out what
-
After removing and cleaning (twice) it's just getting worse and worse so I bit the bullet and brought a new hi-torque motor from Moss in the sale.
Blimey!
The poor old engine didn't know what hit it. It's never spun that fast on start in its life. Sounds a bit strange but it does the job. And no more graunching noises so well chuffed.

Friday to Sunday, 10 cars went to the Isle of Wight. Drove around a bit, ate food, drank beer and met up with Pinky.
And it pushed my mileage for 2018 to just over 4000 miles.

13 Cars took part in the WFTR Cream Tea run, now in its 6th year and getting more and more popular.
This year's run followed the course of the River Wey from the Thames to the source in Alton. Pictures coming soon.

Took it down to Sainsbury's. Saturday off to see friends. Sunday directing a whole bunch of cars how to navigate round Surrey.
I do the bare minimum of maintenance. while she keeps going I keep driving her which is much more fun than wrangling spanners.

We were told in the original post that the horns worked, so that rules out the battery I think.
Nope. I had a horn and the battery was charged and was reading 12V. But a number of cell were kaput so unable t deliver more than a trickle of current.
The car started in the morning, I filled up with benz and then it wouldn't start. That's how quickly it happens.
-
Thats exactly what I had. The battery powered the horn but didnt have enough oomph to do anything else.
I also had a knackered ignition switch but that just mean intermittent starting. Id start with the battery.
-
So the graunching noise returned and I removed the starter motor again.
This time during cleaning this bit fell out:
It doesn't appear to be part of the starter motor (everything still works), does anyone have a idea what it is.
It's about 20mm wide

One of our WFTR members has forgone mirrors and it changes the look of the car:
It's a concours winner so it must be right.
-
That looks fun.
Saw a Mk2 Cortina at a show with motorised doors. The owner walked up with the remote in his pocket and the doors powered open. A few jaws dropped.
I should point out that the 6 is my daily driver.
Getting in isn't an issue as the roof rarely goes up and it's parked in the garage overnight.
This is just musings at the moment. Got 12 months before anything happens as we are planning to do Stelvio with WFTR first.

This is an example of the kit:

An example of them working:
-
The car will getting some minor body work done next year in preparation for a respray.
I'm hankering after getting the doors shaved. I've seen (non TR) cars at shows in the UK where this has been done along with the removal of the wing mirrors and I think it looks stunning.
What do you think?
PS: I've only ever seen one TR6 with shaved doors but it was a horrible metallic purple fastback in Rees Bros in Aldershot so not a good advert for the idea.
