Who'd have thought it? I never imagined this would happen.
Nevertheless, we shouldn't lose focus on helping the Scouts sort out the hut issue. It's good news that they've found the lease or agreement since that defines what should have happened and is the basis of what will happen. It should be a lot easier now.
Please keep us posted.

Hi Suzanne
I'm afraid my comments on the church inolvement are CofE, so may not apply.
On the scout front, the area commissioner is the one to help since you are looking to get technical advice.

Does Scouting HQ have someone who can help? I'm sure that issues with scout huts aren't that rare?

Firstly check with the Land Registry to confirm that the Diocese has the freehold, and whether there any restrictions on the use of the land. Then if you don't have a copy of the lease, you should get hold of one from the Diocesan Registrar. The lease shoud make it clearer whether you have a right of renewal, and what can and cannot be done with the land.
The priest does not normally have formal control of church lands and buildings. That normally lies with the Diocese, and the Parochial Church Council for the parish are responsible to the Diocese for managing the lands and buildings.
It sounds like negotiating with the priest is a non starter. The Archdeacon has some powers and might be useful.
Hope this helps.

Thank you, acaie. As said by PG Wodehouse, "It is rarely difficult to distinguish a Scotsman from a ray of sunshine"
The quote from Blandings Castle is: “It is never difficult to distinguish between with a Scotsman with a grievance and a ray of sunshine.”

my personal opinion is that immigrants are a net positive
In Scotland it is said that someone emigrating from Scotland to England increases the average IQ of both countries.

As ever Joe Saward presents a balanced view bringing in some additional detail that we armchair pundits may not have thought about. Some other interesting stuff as well.

I don't envy Mike Masi, and the last few races haven't gone well for him. Is this because he is trying to meet demands from teams and drivers to let them race and so trying to be flexible on the rules which means he finds himself personally in the firing line, whereas if he consistently took a hard line on applying the letter of the rules it's the rules in the firing line?
He mght do better to avoid engaging in discussions with team principals during the race.

As in previous years, children under the age of 1 year had the highest rate of homicide
Appalling, isn't it.

Rephrasing the question - At what age for an individual English citizen is there the highest probability that they will be murdered?

In due course, but I was surprised and I am interested to see what other forumies think it might be.

What is the most likely age at which you will be murdered?
What I have seen is from a very credible source.

It’s nice to see the warm glow of human kindness this thread is producing.
And the way it has been extended to the children of Windrush immigrants.

Look at your V5 there is a section where you can record changes to your vehicle , fill in the one that says taxation class to historic , take it to a main post office along with insurance certificate and they will tax it Free of charge ,send your old V5 to Swansea , you will then recieve a new updated one in the post , they will also give you a receipt.
any problems get back to me

These seem to have vanished from the face of the earth (or at least the UK). Any suggestions ?

The rubber end has to be pressed up into the chassis but is a tight fit so plenty of fairy liquid lubricant and a jubilee clip to squeeze it. Then put the rear on stands so the axle can drop. Cut a piece of wood to fit as shown and jack up the axle to get the rubber started into the hole. Once it is fully engaged you can take the jubilee clip off and push it completely in.
With thanks again to dursleyman

Thanks to all, and in particular to dursleyman for his advice on how to fit new ones. Potentially one of those infuriating jobs which sound easy and then take hours and lots of bad language to achieve what should be straightforward. Using dursleyman's technique it was 30 minutes on the right hand side and 20 minutes on the left.

A pleasant run on the Cotswold Tour today organised by the Cleeve Motorsport Club. Two of of us in TR7v8s and a 6. Weather was kind and a good route and very clear and accurate tulip route book.

Bump stop rubber?
Where, under the car? Front, back? Have you looked?
Looking from the side it was below the rear axle. I haven't been under the car to inspect it - as the years go by it's getting rather challenging!
Fancy an E-Type?

My bank balance wouldn't stretch to buying this and sorting it out. I'll stick to my Grinnall TR7v8.
