Debden is an airfield south of Cambridge on the Essex / Cambridgeshire border complete with whirling radar towers. The course laid out on the runways and perimeter roads, dominated with traffic cones and white arrowed signs on blue background, to indicate course direction and track limits. Its like racing through the country’s motorway network, not that one would which is why we sprint !!

With a dry but overcast day just the 2 Entries, Malcolm Chapman with his Triumph TR7V8 (Class 2c) & Jim Giddings with his TR8 (Class 3b )enjoyed the battle of the V8’s at this fantastic venue, the event organised by HCAAC and as Jim states its brilliant value too, 1 practice & 4 timed runs for £95.

Jim Giddings took the honours with a 83.88 sec, being fastest overall and nearest the class bogey. With Malcom achieving a time of 91.51sec.

Bob Mead joined the fun on his motorbike, for a day of spectating. Unfortunately his TR4 is still being fettled after an off earlier in the year, as he’s normally a regular contender.

Still all to play for in the club championship with overall positions behind Len olds and the class positions and awards to be decided.

Watch this space.
