My senior apprentice, John, decided that it was time to strip the engine, which, to be fair, at 33000 miles, should be in good order, and so far it looks that way. It turns over ok, had 90psi compressions on a poor battery and lazy starter. The top end is covered in congealed oil, so NO attempt to start the engine was tried. No point, it WILL work just fine !

More to follow as John removes everything from the block.

Sump removal, and a very clogged up sump it was.


Now what can we see in here ! It's going to take a lot of cleaning as John takes it all apart. What we can say is that there doesn't seem to be anything nasty in there. No nasty looking pieces of metal or other foreign bodies surplus to requirement.
