Drive it Day to Abbey Cwm Hir House

WYE DEAN DRIVE-IT DAY 28TH APRIL 2019
The outing was organised by Kevin & Carol Nichols. After stormy weather a day or two before, the day turned out to be completely dry, if mostly cloudy. The line-up was as follows:
Kevin & Carol Nichols – TR6
Martin & Eric from Glavon- TR4A
Martin & Sian Cull – TR6
Irving Price & Patti – TR4
Robert & Sue – TR6
John & Pauline Williams – TR4
New to Wye Dean -Gareth & Wendy Pugh – MGF, but rebuild of a TR4A owned for a number of years is well under way.
Andrew Langton made a brief appearance in Hay-on-Wye in his TR4A but he did not join the event.
The run took in the beautiful mid-Wales countryside to eventually arrive at The Hall at Abbey-Cwm-Hir. The tour was introduced by owner Paul Humpherston. As he is on crutches, the tour was undertaken by one of the staff of the house. Very interesting and informative. Well worth a visit!
After exploring the gardens, we headed off for a drive through the Elan Valley dams. We were unable to stop, but one of the dams was spectacularly overflowing. A very dramatic sight. After looping back through Rhayader, we continued in the direction of Builth Wells. The tour ended when some of those present accompanied Kevin & Carol to view "Kev's shed" and enjoy some hospitality. The remainder headed for home. A very enjoyable day in good company!See a further selection of photos in Gallery.
