Keswick Trip
As a group we decided to have a few days in the Lakes, Andrew and Jackie often go in the area, so they had the job of organising it for us.
We also decided that as ten cars were going, we would all find our own way there, and so not have a convoy. By us all being on “Whats Ap” if anything happened we would all know and be able to help, luckily nothing did.
Martin had just bought himself a TR4A and bravely came on the trip in it. We had
seven TR’s ranging from a TR4 to TR6’s, all being on their best behaviour.
The Keswick Country House Hotel proved a great venue with good meals and ample parking.
The first day we went on a local run, in two groups, calling at the many eating places and looking at the beautiful scenery. At one of the eating places we were invited to look at the owners Riley’s passed down through three generations. One of them was a M.P.H Riley , a one seater racing car made in 1936 and being an ex works car, in “Blue Bird Blue” naturally due to the area.
The second day Jackie organised us a walk around “Derwent Water” , some even managed the ten miles, other caught the boat back.
This together with the group meals made it the best of our many trips so far, everyone saying how much they enjoyed it, the great weather also helped.
It is always so much better when the wives also come just to keep some of us in order.
