Septembers White Rose Meeting

It was good to welcome Mike and Martha to our little gathering, there were only a few at this Months meeting, some being on holiday

Mike told us of his recent purchase of a “long Door” two that he hopes to have restored in the near future. Having just moved to a new house locally, he thought that house modifications, may take preference, over his TR2. I told him of my TR2 in Mathewson’s auction, that did not sell and explained there is no profit in car restoration , only a good hobby.

We went to the Car Museum as a group, as the International; was cancelled, but Jackie was able to get our Hotel costs refunded. So it was better than nothing, but just not big enough, for the number of people there. I was also told that the people selling parts were not allowed to sell on the Sunday.

Paul and I took two of our cars to the local “Rotherham” car show, and Paul won best in Show with his car, mine did nothing but I am not bitter.

It has been a quite month for us all, and I finally came down with the dreaded Covid, so did not feel like doing anything much, with the cars.

Working in my garage on my latest restoration, has not stopped me giving everyone a profit, but me. As we do in restoring these cars, but its such a good hobby, and I am keeping a lot of people in employment.

Peter has nearly completed his treatment and is gradually getting better and it is very good to see him and Sylvia at our meetings.

Paul is having a rethink on his TR6 power steering, as it is not working very well. Having spent his money on a new system it is very disappointing for it not to work.

Chris is still enjoying his TR6, as his TR5 has its Chassis and body repaired, and will soon be faced with a major decision of which car to keep.

I hope this extra energy costs do not make us have to find yet another meeting venue, as all these Public houses come under financial pressure.

Keep safe

Chris
