The Waterwheel run
The Waterwheel Tearooms at Howden
In early May we all had a group run to the Waterwheel at Howden, a total of eight cars met in Doncaster, a TR2, 3A, 5, and 6's, making the mix. Russ had planned the route, and for his trouble he was made to be the lead car. The route was through many country roads, and past the Docks in Goole, again keeping up as a group proved no trouble. Ian one of our newer members was eager to give his TR3A a run in company for the first time, and it behaved very well.
The Waterwheel is a regular meeting place for Classics and was full of all types, Russ had called in advance and they had left eight spacers, in the middle of the car park for our cars. Unknown to us at the time a film crew was taking pictures of the cars, and this gave the outing a special flavour.
The Waterwheel has a Café and Restaurant, and we all had a meal whilst listening to the sixties music, and looking at all the car related features. This has been the best venue for us to go to in the area, as it was about an hour and a half of pleasant motoring, followed by a great meeting point.
A slightly different route home, allowed us to stop in Tickhill, for drinks and a chat before heading home, a really good outing, on a sunny day.
