Grantown on Spey 2015
Grantown on Spey Motormania the 5th to the 6th of September Social Weekend
Several of the Scottish Group members met at Tesco cafe in Perth for a cuppie before our run to Grantown on Spey. The cars parked in the car park got many admiring comments from the Tesco shoppers. We had a fabulous drive travelling through Blairgowrie up to the Ski Centre at Glenshee for our lunch stop. The next part of our run took us to Tomintoul, going up the Lecht with stunning views and superb TR driving roads. Once we arrived at the Grant Arms Hotel we met up with more of the group who travelled from other parts of Scotland. Once unpacked, most of us went to the pub for a few well earned social drinks to catch up with everyone. We had time for a quick freshen up before our dinner which was one of the largest meeting of members for a few years. The food and service was excellent and a late night followed with much hilarity and drinking.
Sunday morning arrived and we enjoyed a full Scottish cooked breakfast to keep us all going. By 9.00am the TR`s were being positioned on the club stand by three of the Group Leaders. The cars ranged from a TR2 to a TR7 V8 with a fantastic turn out as usual. This event gives an opportunity for members from all over Scotland to have a get together. The shops, Farmers Market, cafes and cars were enough to keep everybody happy.
There were 450 cars on display with such a range of types and ages to provide plenty to look at and talk about. My favourites were a Brooklands Austin 7 with a polished alloy body and a Lotus Sunbeam. Lunch was eaten at the Garth Hotel which was excellent and needed after the talking, walking and fresh air. After another walk up and down the High Street and a few items purchased at the Farmers Market including Gin and Fudge it was time to pack up and say our farewells. Overall another fantastic weekend that has to be one of the highlights of our social calendar for any car enthusiast.
