Red Rose Bulletin - November 2017

Red Rose Bulletin - November 2017

It is with great sadness that once again I am starting this month's bulletin on a sad note.

Christine Senior passed away in October after a long illness. I am sure that the thoughts and condolences from all Red Rose members go out to Richard and his family at this time. Christine was a lovely lady with a great sense of humour and will be very sadly missed not only by Red Rose but also by many TR Register members throughout the country. The family have asked for donations to be made to the Trinity Hospice, Bispham.

November Bulletin

The Red Rose October meeting was very well attended and once again we did a roaring trade selling the Red Rose calendars which are now available at the bargain price of just £5 per calendar or 2 for £9 and 3 for £12! So get yours before they all get snapped up! They make the perfect Christmas present! Anyone who would like a calendar but won't be at the monthly meetings email Jonathan / Caroline at trredrose@hotmail.com for postal and payments details.

Mike and Carole Biddulph kindly stepped in at the last minute and organised the last of this years post meeting runs to Hopley House where coffee and cake was enjoyed by all those who attended.

The Coast to Coast weekend was a great success with eleven cars covering the 180 mile route to Whitby. Bob Eccles is to be congratulated for organising an excellent event once again.

Red Rose TR racers Hamish Roscoe and David Bailey have now completed the season with Hamish ending on a high coming 2nd in class 2 of The Revington TR / TR Register Sprint and Hill climb Championship. David's year came to an end at Oulton Park Swinging Sixties Race Series following an unfortunate encounter with another competitor.

I am sure both will be in action next year and will be taking advantage of the winter break for some essential maintenance.

The October Pendle Witches run was regrettably cancelled as a result of a slipping clutch on Jonathan Smiths TR. I am sure we will be resurrecting the event for next year and Jonathan's car will be receiving some much needed TLC over the winter break after covering in excess of ten thousand miles this year.

Winter is approaching and nights are drawing in which can only mean that it is time for the annual Red Rose quiz at the Antrobus Arms meeting on Sunday 12th of November. The quiz will follow the usual format set by David Rhodes and no doubt with the inevitable George Formby question. Why not come along to the November meeting and take part. You could be leaving with the much desired bright sparks trophy.

The Christmas lunch will be taking place at the Antrobus Arms meeting on the 10th of December and places can be reserved at the November meeting, cost is £5 per head.

If you would like to attend the Christmas lunch but will not be at the November meeting please email Jonathan / Caroline at trredrose@hotmail.com before Sunday 12th November with names and number attending.

Looking ahead to the New Year we are inviting members to submit suggestions for any new events they would like incorporating within the 2018 events schedule with the intention of presenting these at the January AGM. Suggestions for any new events should be emailed to Jonathan / Caroline at trredrose@hotmail.com

Once again we will be holding the photographic competition at the February meeting and if you would like to see one of your photos gracing the pages of our next calendar then it's not too late to take that perfect picture of your TR.

Red Rose Facebook group now has in excess of one hundred members. There will be a prize draw in the New Year of all members who have joined the face book group in 2017 so why not join you could be a winner.
