TR Lincs February 2017 Newsletter

Hello and welcome!

Well that's another cold month ticked off towards getting out and about again. Have you all been busy getting your TR ready for the impending season or are they all sorted and just waiting for the sheet to be pulled off to awaken them from their winter hibernation! The 2017 programme is still coming together but there is plenty of opportunity for you to add your contribution to this year by either organising a monthly run, don't forget our calendar of events is available by clicking here, or suggesting a good place of interest that we could all visit. As has been said many times before our club relies and thrives on the participation and interest of our members. In the following pages you'll find reports on some of the key events that have already taken place, those yet to come and finally some ideas of what might be worth exploring as we move forward --- see you at the end and as always any thoughts then please don't hesitate to get in touch with me ...........

Monday 16th January

We held our AGM at Wragby and were pleased to welcome Paul Hogan our new TR Register Chairman to undertake the role of chair for the evening. I was personally pleased that Paul had taken the trouble to travel up from Coventry on a particularly miserable January evening with the added inconvenience of the Lincoln by-pass being closed on the way home!! Anyway a big thank you to Paul for officiating. I won't go through the whole business of the meeting other than to say that if you would like to view the draft minutes then they are available by clicking here. For those that just want to cut to the chase then I gave a review of 2016 which again you can read here and the meeting re-elected the following people to manage the group for 2017.
Group Leader - Adrian Lawton
Group Secretary - Allyson Pywell
Treasurer - Malcolm Brown
Spares Secretary - Bob Smith
Competition Secretary - Dave McDonald

Many thanks to all of the above for putting themselves forward for another year and I'm sure they can count on your support.

Saturday 28th January - TR Lincs Annual Dinner

Everyone enjoyed a great meal and good company at our annual dinner this time at the Bentley Hotel, Lincoln. This was the first time at this venue and we were made to feel very welcome. We were entertained through the evening with another excellent quiz prepared by Peter Heath and won by Andy Kurtaski and his fellow table members. Allyson Pywell organised the raffle, once again supported by the kind donations of gifts by those that attended with the proceeds going to the Lincolnshire branch of

Lives, a worthwhile organisation I'm sure you'll all agree. We may well return in 2018 so make sure you don't miss out next year and book early when the date is announced.

Sunday 23rd April - County Wheels Day

County Wheels Day, once again at Jubilee Park, Woodhall Spa. Put the date in your diary. Once we have more details we'll let you know. As in previous years Malcolm Brown and Derek Pywell are busy with the organisation of the 2017 event. Watch this space.

What's On......
Now a run down of the events that we have on the books for 2017. As always these can change at any time so please keep up to date by reviewing our listing on the TR Register Website local page and watching out for emails from me. So what have we got planned so far for this year then? ........

Sunday 14th May - Tour of Lincs 100

Many of you have taken part in this event in previous year and if you have you will already have been sent an invitation to take part. This year the organisers are limiting the entries to 100. If you are unsuccessful in getting straight on the run they are holding a "wait list" for those who would like to go. The entry form is available by clicking

here with all the relevant details you'll need for entry.

Sunday 21st May - TR Lincs Run to Fulnetby

Our run this month, courtesy of Martin and Hilary Farley will see us meet at Goltho Gardens for coffee and then set off on a 2 hour magical mystery tour finishing at Fulnetby Hall for refreshments. Please contact Hilary Farley if you wish to take part. Sunday 11th June - Spalding and East Elloe Classic Run
Once again a fantastic run through the county and beyond. Fantastic turnout last year and this years promises to be just as good. This year the run will start at Surfleet, and take a route through pleasant Lincolnshire villages, countryside and places of interest, on mainly rural roads, northwards to Branston, south of Lincoln and finish with spectacular views over the Vale of Belvoir from a reserved car park on the terrace of Belvoir Castle. For those who would like to take part then the entry form is available with all the details by clicking on the relevant file types here WORD or PDF. Let me know if you intend going.

Sunday 25th June - Visit to RAF Scampton, Reminder

An opportunity to visit the world famous RAF Scampton, home of the Dambusters and of course the Red Arrows. We will have a guided tour of the Heritage Centre and a chance to see up close an operational airbase as well as immerse ourselves in the history from 617 squadron right up to today. This is a reminder to please let me know if you intend coming along as places are limited and we will need to inform the base of attendees ahead of our visit. Don't miss this chance. Sunday 25th June - Sunday 2nd July

TR Lincs Tour of Northern Ireland

Our trip this year is all planned and venues/accommodation booked. Those that are going already know the arrangements but if you would like to join the group then please contact Derek Pywell(derek.pywell@gmail.com) as soon as possible for all the details.

Competition Dates

As always there are a healthy number of competition events throughout the year. Our Competition Secretary, Dave McDonald, will provide all the information but here are some we already know about.
April 1st and 2nd - Swinging Sixties, Snetterton
April 28th, 29th & 30th, Historic Festival, Donington Park
May 21st - Sprint Hill Climb, Curborough
June 18th - Sprint Hill Climb, Shelsley Walsh
September 9th and 10th - Swinging Sixties, Donington Park

Well that's it for me for now. There are more events in the planning for this year so keep an eye on our local group page on the TR Register Website for updates. On a different subject, one idea I have is at our monthly meetings we have a guest speaker that would give us a talk on a subject allied to our club. It wouldn't always be "techie car stuff" but might be travel related around the cars if you get my meaning. Perhaps you could give me an idea if you think it would be something you might like by clicking here.

See you all soon
