Kennet Valley TR Group Social Scene 296

The first event of the New Year was our annual Dinner and dance held for the third year running at the Wroxton House Hotel near Banbury. We again more or less took over the whole Hotel with only three rooms not taken, 54 members and guests attended this year's event and in addition to KVG we welcome six people from the White Horse Group and four from the Wyedean.

It was a really successful event enjoyed by all, which went off very smoothly not like last year when there was an inopportune power cut while people were getting changed leading to many comical scenes of ladies apply make up by the light of IPhones. Our thanks again go to Karen Woolnough who did all of the organisation and pre planning that made the event run so effortlessly.

At our February meeting we had an enjoyable talk on the Kennet and Avon Canal given by David Copley the Chairman of the Reading Branch of the Kennet and Avon Canal Trust and the mid monthly on the 19th was a visit to Brooklands. The March meeting will be the AGM so if anyone wishes to join the committee or has any ideas for a new event, speaker or place to visit, please speak up. This is your chance as the Group is run for you and all input is welcome.

For the April meeting we have organised a speaker from the Thames Valley Air Ambulance, which has been one of our nominated charities for the past few years, and advance notice that the May meeting will have a talk on The Photography with some practical advice on photographing cars of by Mark Seymore.

With spring coming it is time to dust off the cars and start to use them in earnest again so there are two events in April. On the 9th we have a visit arranged to Prodrive in Banbury, which is already fully booked. And then on 23rd for Drive it Day we are again intending to visit Breakfast Scramble at Bicester, and have a stop for afternoon tea at Notcutts at Nuneham Courtney.

Looking further ahead, in September a group of members are organising a trip to Angouleme for the Circuit des Remparts, and are staying in a nearby Chateau. So if anyone would like to join in on this memorable trip please contact Emrhys or Phil.

There are many trips and events that we have pencilled in for the rest of the year so please visit the Website for up to date information, or come along to our monthly meetings at The Angel at Woolhampton on the A4 between Reading and Newbury, on the first Wednesday of the month.
