TR Action 301

TR Action 301

Well, some 30 Devon members were enticed to the visit to our local Tavy Ales micro brewery where member Brian and his son Jon treated us to an interesting tour of the process, followed by the chance to sample and then purchase some of the brews in production. Next it was off to the Miners Arms for a most enjoyable Sunday lunch.

Next up was our trip northwards, arranged by Jennie, who now takes up the story:

"Our monthly Sunday meeting in September saw a group of 25 members starting the day with a coffee at Quickes coffee shop, part of a local cheese farm at Newton St Cyres, near Crediton. After coffee and a 45 minute drive along the winding A377 following the Tarka railway line and the River Taw the group arrived for lunch at the Chichester Arms in Bishops Tawton where we had a generous roast dinner. Taking advantage of a beautiful autumn day and open top classic cars, we took a drive along the Taw estuary and coast road to Croyde where we took a short walk along a section of the South West Coastal path to enjoy the view over the North Devon coast before the mandatory ice cream and a leisurely drive home."

This was quickly followed by a special event this year, our Peter Christie Memorial Day, arranged by wife Jane and daughter Anna for an inter-group skittles match and the chance to raise some funds for the Rowcroft Hospice. Withmembers from TR Register and the local Crashbox Club, TSSC and Devon Vintage Car Club, a great time was had by all with 53 people in attendance, who raised over £210. Top scores in the skittles went to John (TSSC), Gwen (Devon TRR) and Helen (Somerset TRR) – well done everyone! Picture shows 3 fine TR6's in attendance, all of which were Peter's!

As I write this, our next meeting in October will have been a Sunday lunch at the Lymington Arms arranged by John & Kay. We've been pretty lucky with the weather this year, so I hope this one is another chance to give our cars a good run.

If you're not getting emails from myself or from the TR Office, then you really should let us have your email address so that we can keep you updated with events.
