TR Action 295
Thank you to Devon Group members; we had an excellent turn out at Peter's funeral where along with other family and friends we really did fill the church and despite the weather, we had a string of 13 TRs that followed the hearse on to the Crematorium at Exeter - Pete would have been very proud.
Our latest Sunday lunches have proven to be very popular with 30 of us meeting up for an excellent roast at the Keepers Cottage, kindly arranged by Roger & Maureen, where we managed to fill the room. I managed to round up many of us for an impromptu photo in the car park before setting off – please see attached photo. This was followed by a lovely day out for our last Sunday lunch of the year, at the Butterleigh Inn, kindly arranged by Dennis & Jenny and a big thank you to Dennis for navigating us through the flooded and muddy lanes of Devon, after Storm Angus, to get to Butterleigh on time.
Then, we celebrated Christmas nice an early with a Christmas lunch at the Hotel Endsleigh on the edge of Dartmoor, kindly arranged by Derek & Janet, and very nice it was too.
On other matters, we recently held our local AGM, where despite stiff competition; I was confirmed as GL for Devon. Minutes of the meeting will have been sent out to our members with a few changes to note for this year's event, if you haven't had a copy and would like one, please get in contact
At our AGM, we started populating our programme of activities for 2017 and this is available on the Devon Group website which will be updated as I fill in the blanks and confirm dates.
Our AGM was shortly followed by the TR Register AGM. Some announcements have been made on the main website and Minutes will be available but locally, I was pleased to see our retiring Chairman, Phil Tucker, keeping involved as the new Finance Director and our very own ex Devon Group Leader, Derek Hurford, was successful in his bid to become South Director and whilst I'm sure they'll be very busy on regional and national events, we look forward to seeing them at some of our local events too.
Finally, as you'll be reading this just after Christmas and the New Year, I hope you had a good one and I look forward to seeing you in 2017.
