Chiltern TR Group - News 17th November 2023
We have arranged a visit to Nuffield Place, once the home of William Morris (later Lord Nuffield), followed by lunch, on Saturday 2nd December. I hope you will be able to join us for one of the last Chiltern TR adventures of this year We are grateful to Rosy for making the booking and to Aidan for all the arrangements. See his message below –
“Dear Chiltern TR Colleagues,
After our lunch tomorrow (Saturday 18th), our next outing will be on Saturday 2nd December to Nuffield Place, the former home of Sir William Morris (Lord Nuffield), which is located just off the A4130 near Nettlebed between Henley and Wallingford, the full address being:
This is a National Trust property and our visit, which is being hosted by our colleague Rosy who is a volunteer there, will coincide with the house being specially decorated for the Christmas season. Entry is free for National Trust members, otherwise it is £11.00 per person.
Rosy has kindly arranged for reserved parking for TR’s at the rear of the house and is also hoping to arrange for a guide to take us around the house.
The house will open at 12 noon, so we envisage arriving at around 11.30am (the gardens – and hopefully a hot drinks kiosk - will be open then) and after we have finished our visit, we will then adjourn for lunch to the nearby Maker Space café (www.themakerspace.co.uk), which is only a short walk away from the house and car park.
To assist Rosy with her arrangements, please would you let me know (either by text or e-mail) if you are able to join us, where in addition to confirming our numbers to Rosy, we can also hopefully book tables at the Maker Space café for our lunch.
I look forward to hearing back from you.
