Spa results for the Peerless

Recommended Posts

Well we are all back from a rather disappointing Spa. All three ( Ian, Celia and Peerless ) in one piece, but with Ian spending about 8 minutes on track through no fault of his own.

Let me explain--there were 75 cars entered in our race ( that actually started ,) with a discrepancy in power from a Lola T70, Chevrons, Mustangs, Camaros, down to us and others such as an Austin A40s A35s, Sunbeam Rapier and the suchlike. Unfortunately some of the drivers of the more powerful cars could not handle their beasts and caused mayhem in the form of constant yellow flags, red flags, safety cars and stoppages. Subsequently we both only got one real unhindered practice lap, and in the race, although I got some racing poor Ian got held in the pit lane while the safety car was out for around 10 minutes, then only getting an out lap, one full lap with dodgy gears and then the race was stopped prematurely due to a Mustang going off in a big way. We finished 56th overall but all intact despite having to take evasive action when the faster cars seemed to ignore our presence whilst overtaking-very hairy !!

Thanks, Alec for the welcome additions to my report ! Just to say we had magnificent support from Alec and Diane, and the TR3 Squirrel racing boys were fantastic, even offering to let us exchange our wheels for theirs if it meant getting us out racing ! On a good note we have just come back from a successful two driver race at Snetterton, where we came 3rd in class and had a very good days racing with the Classic Sports Car Club, and Irene and David Tydeman, and Peter and Maureen Hudspith from our local Stour and Abbott group came to support us. Peerless out next at Donington on the 21st October. :D
