Chris Tyrrell TR6
I'm having problems with my electrics. Each time I turn on my side lights it blows the fuse and knocks out my side lights, tail lights and instrument lights. The only thing I've changed recently is the fitting of a radio (took a seperate 'live' from the battery and found a loose unconnected 'switched live' from under the dash). ANy ideas where I should start looking? Many thanks. Chris.
Bob Stubbs
Chris Suggest you remove the stray connection that you put your radio onto and see if you still get the same problem. If you do, there's no link but if you don't that's your answer.
Chris Tyrrell TR6
Thanks for your reply Bob. Your suggestion is totally logical. I shall disconnect the 'switched live' found dangling unconnected and unterminated and see what happens. Many thanks. Chris. P.S. Forgot to mention, it's a 1974 TR6 PI. Chris Tyrrell TR6
Disconnected the switched live from the radio (as suggested by Bob) but problem persisted. Removed the switch from the dash to find one of the feed connections uninsulated. Replaced the connector and everything working as it should, must have been shorting to the metal fascia behind the dash. Cheers.
