squeezer99 Posted June 2, 2004 Report Share Posted June 2, 2004 Yup! Could be that the drive gear is worn and over a certain speed the gears are 'skipping'. Are you sure the speedo cable is OK. The ends may be rounded which could cause a similar problem (had this problem on an old Volvo 340). Try driving the car with the speedo disconnected (on a private road of course!) to ensure that over 40mph the rotational speed of the cable is proportional to the road speed. Some tape wrapped around the exposed end of the cable would make this easier! Regards Jim Quote Link to post Share on other sites
